Any consensus on what you'all are doing to lose weight? ...or is everybody just doing their own thing?

My problem has been no time for breakfast, no time for lunch and then I snack from the time I get home till I go to bed

That's a no no Wader...you really should try to have breakfast and lunch...even if you take something to eat on the way to work or when you first get there....it's important to eat at least 3 meals a day and a couple of snacks too.

Thanks for such a warm welcome. Can you come to my place and exercise with me each morning to keep me motivated?

Wading
CPAP seems to have stopped my need to snack at night (but I avoid watching TV because that's when I want to snack). We should go to your place in the morning to cook you breakfast and pack your lunch box. Can you send me the fare?

Wading,

Disclaimer: What works for me may not work for you (kinda like with masks).

Take my word for it, not eating is the worst thing you can do daily to lose weight. It's like not putting gas in your car - you're not going to get far. If you fuel your body about five times a day with either small meals or three meals but carry something healthy to snack on, such as baby carrots or cucumber slices, something that is not like potato chips, you keep your metabolism burning. And when you're not filling your "gas tank" with greasy, fried and high calorie/fatty foods, you end up burning up the fuel by running your engine all day. That's the best analogy I can think of.

Also, a lot of water helps, too. Cut out the snacking after dinner (no need to eat late at night and let it lay in your stomach). That is hard to do for some people as it takes undoing a lifetime of habit (as was with me), but it helps, too. And exercise. Yes, I fought it tooth and nail, but it's a must for health.

So does this mean you're joining our club now? It would be nice to have you with us...

Considering you are comming from "down under" I don't think you'd make it here in time for breakfast LOL!

But thanks for the offer.

LoRi,

I already 'know" all that you say...that doesn't mean I not glad to hear you say it. I know I can do it because I've done it before (lost 90lbs)

Sure I'll join the group. I'll make sure I pick up some fruit and vegies this weekend for daytime snacks.

In the evenings, I'm going to try to get out of the house with the kids and get a little more active. That is if we can get all the homework done before dark.

It's often hard to get all five on task.

Excuses...Excuses...I know

Thanks for encouraging me to join "the group"
Sincerely,

Here is a great link to the Mypyramid.gov site that I am using for my meal plan. http://www.mypyramid.gov

I am not doing too well in the exercise department other than dancing to my Shakira CD. If only I could look like, dance like, sing like Shakira. Mmm I wonder what she will look like when she is 55?

I humbly request to join this group for support in losing the more than 100 pounds that I need to part company with or die. Thankfully I have Divine help also.

Judi

starting today with -0- pounds lost.

Judi,

The more, the merrier. We all could use the support and the encouragement we get from each other. I know I sure can.

Wader, F I V E KIDS??? No wonder you have no time to do things for yourself. I really think this is like signing up for WW because you end up having to admit how much you've gained or lost in one week and it can keep you on track knowing that.

Will talk to you both in a week, at least on this post, and see how we've all done. Amy had some great idea with this thread, no?

Barb,

First of all, woohoo on your 2 lbs. WTG!!!

Second, I did find some smileys and I did something a bit easier, I think, than you. I found the site, which also included IMG links. I opened Notepad, copied just the IMG link and put my own description of what that smiley was next to it. Now when I want to include one, I just copy the link from my Notepad document and paste it in the blog. I guess the trick is that this site gives you the IMG link and it is already on the Internet, so no need to PhotoBucket them. I'll paste a few below. Having fun with them...
