Making progress.... sort of

Post by BrianR4743 » Sun Dec 13, 2009 11:29 am

I've spent the last week or so following the advice of other members in workinging on my leak rate, which had been all over the board. The leak line is looking much better, at .02/s on a routine basis thanks to a bit of tape (still shooting for zero!) As happy as I am with that result, my HI's are still high, averaging 6 and my AI's are averaging .8. As I started with an AHI of 15.5, I'm not unhappy, but surprised that the apneas continue at the rate they are. I have a followup with the sleep doc on Tuesday, so not quite sure what to expect.

I also received my heated hose last week, which I was really looking forward to. The rainout had been a problem at any setting higher than "1". I can turn the setting up to "2" with no condensation, but any higher and I'm still watering the lawn. Anybody using a hose cover over a heated hose? If so, which sort of results have you experienced?

Thanks much!

I have the sleepzone heated hose and of course it comes with a cover. I use the fleece cover from Pur-Sleep over the top of the heated hose. The second layer creates a superior insulation and is even softer, so it seems to work well. Another thing, I forget to turn off the heated hose some days, and have not noticed any damage or issues from that. Condensation is no longer an issue.

Yes, I do use a quilted hose cover over my Aussie heated hose--don't have any rainout even if I use my HH on its highest setting. Of course, all depends on the temperature of your bedroom--colder the room, more chance of rainout. We keep our BR @ 65 at night. Good luck!

That would be my suggestion, too. Especially if you happen to be using the EPR feature, which drops your therapeutic pressure by an exact number of cms each time you exhale.

Thanks again Rested Gal! I've appreciated all of your valuable feedback.

I'll probably hang tight at this pressure for the next couple of days, and see what the MD says at the followup. I have a feeling he'll have the same reaction.

As for the continued rainout, I've discovered that it's most likely due to the design of the Swift LT and the condensation that builds up when I exhale. Working on that as well.

Have a great weekend,
Brian
