You have all of the knowledge and the power........if they pull some stunt like that, simply insist on what you want very kindly but firmly, or walk out. They are not the only DME in MSP!

Practice saying, "No, that is not acceptable" and "I want to talk to the manager". Make sure YOU know going in what machines are fully data capable, and which ones are not. Above all, don't let them treat you as a mindless idiot, or 'meat for the pot'!

What good phrases to have ready. What a good idea, timbalionguy!

Here's hoping you won't have to use them, secret agent girl, but practice 'em anyway.

You know that Verizon commercial where the person has a big crew of network engineers behind him? Well visualize the entire CPAPTALK membership standing behind you. You do.

My axe is in the shop from our last riot, carbonman, so bring me your spare, OK? And what size torches this time? I hate showing up with the small torch if everybody else is bringing the big one.

@Secret Agent Girl,

I think another good line, depending on your insurance circumstances, is: "I'll have to mention that to my doctor and think about it--or do you think maybe one of the other in-network DMEs might have the machine you promised?"

jnk, not to worry for you.....plenty of backup axes to choose from.
If there is one thing I have learned through cpap.......always have a backup.

Stick to your guns!
Why not write down the names of a few other DME's even if you were only considering one other. Then if they give you one bit of grief, pull that paper out and say I think I am going to take my business to this other supplier who won't jerk my around. They will probably change their story quickly.

Practice in front of a mirror
"NO" in a deep calm voice - don't let it get squeaky and don't put rise at the end (that means" no?")

Visualize a naughty puppy - "NO" - using the command voice.

Secret Agent where are you? Did you get the machine and everything you want no questions and you are so excited you forgot to tell us how it went?
Of course you got everything you wanted, you were going to tell them what you want and not take anything else.
