NOT So SWIFT
My DME let's me try whatever mask I want (I know, I'm very very lucky). I've already tried at least 6 masks. She takes back whatever I don't want. I think she's forgotten about me though...haven't heard from her since the end of July/early August. I'm sure she would let me try an Aura and then I can decide which 2 to keep. As far as my insurance goes, they don't know how many masks I've tried...I only get billed for the mask once I make a firm decision on which one I want.

My gut feel is if the Swift works for you the Aura will too. And maybe even better.Sleepless on LI wrote:I want to tell you to try it, but I don't want you to hate me if it doesn't work for you. Gut feeling? It will work for you.
But remember I've only seen pictures and read accounts here, so I haven't a clue what my gut is basing this on. Maybe just not enough for breakfast.

Leaks when I sleep on side
There are so many Swift threads I don't know where to put this, but here goes:
It works well for me, as a 30-day novice at xpap, when I'm on my back. But when I turn squarely on my side, the pressure of the pillow on the headgear strap shifts the interface ever so slightly and it starts leaking at the nose. I'd really love to lay the side of my face on the pillow (a memory foam), but I find I just can't.
If anyone has an idea....

The only interface I've found so far that lets me lay my face squarely in the middle of any pillow when sleeping on my side is the Aura.
The problem you described with the Swift is the same problem I had with it, n0trab, even with a Tempur-Pedic pillow and my keeping the cylinder well off the firm edge of the pillow. Something about the headgear just will shift the Swift's cylinder when I try to use it. Aura and Breeze suit me better for side sleeping.
The Swift's hose never bothered me even when sleeping on that same side, but the shifting cylinder does annoy me...on either side.
Nonetheless, I still consider the Swift to be a very good interface since it suits so many people very well.

n0trab,
I agree ALMOST with everything RG has said except the hose DID bother me with the Swift. Other than that, I had the same problem, too. And even if I was in the "right" position when I turned, I still would automatically wake up as a precautionary measure to make sure I was. Guess after awhile you become mentally trained to do it. At least I did. Did you ever try Tridens way of affixing the tube to the top strap? His post is viewtopic.php?t=4290&highlight=swift and it has photos (of my model, my daughter) to see how it looks, too, when in that configuration.
I also agree with RG about the Aura. It is now my #1 favorite of any mask/interface I've ever used.

Beth,
Let us know when you get it. I'm very curious to know how you like it. When do you expect delivery? And I hope you feel the same way about it as I do. Another side sleeper perhaps?
PS: The PAPpillow, some say it's very high/thick. Do you find that to be the case? I don't think you'll worry about your pillow with the Aura, though.

Just put the order in yesterday, but for sure will add my 1/2 cent to the discussion. Side sleeper indeed! As for the PAPillow, the double edge is rather thick and firm, which I really like. I will use the mini-edge for travel and have tried it up on another relatively flat pillow. It is softer and not as thick, so I raised it up to match my preference for thickness. I've always used down pillows and bunched them up to be fairly high and firm, so the double edge PAP was perfect for me. The mini-edge version is quite soft and cuddly. Either way, I like the shape and the way it holds an edge to hang the mask over to avoid pressure on the interface. YMMV, as always.

Bingo, plus a few other problems it creates, like not spending enough time doing other things, which can lead to OTHER problems. I think you get the idea.ProfessorSleep wrote:You mean like I'm supposed to be working on the computer at this time, but am using this as an important excuse to keep from doing so?
