cpap.com and hurricane rita

Post by george45 » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:48 am

Just a word of caution from a meteorologist:

From the shipping info from my last mask order, it looks like cpap.com ships from Stafford, TX, just SW of Houston. There is a good possiblitly that the hurricane could, at the very least, have an adverse affect on their ability to ship orders. If you want to order anything from them, I'd do it today.

Let's hope I'm wrong.

I wonder where the servers are that run this forum? If they are in-house then we might all lose the board for a while (a short while I'd hope).

Hurricane Rita

Post by johnnygoodman » Wed Sep 21, 2005 12:11 pm

Greetings,

Our company, cpap.com, as well as our sister websites, billmyinsurance.com and cpapforseniors.com, and cpaptalk.com have been built with situations such as Hurricanes in mind. There will be no website downtime.

We have prepared office space, internet, fax, and warehouse capabilities in Dallas which we will be making use of from this Thursday (Tomorrow) until Houston is cleared for return.

Although some of those who work with us on our family of websites are due for a road trip, our customers should experience no delay in products or support. At most we expect a slightly reduced call center volume capacity and possible 1-2 day shipping delays on unpopular replacement parts.

Again, customers should experience the same level of service and promptness of shipping as always when placing orders in the next few days.

Johnny

Johhny,

Good luck & will be thinking of you guys.

I did wonder if your servers could be affected.

Yesterday morning response here in Sydney was very sluggish for about 5 hrs then it came good - this was (at a quick guess) about 4pm Texas time wed.

Hey johnny, I hear there is an opening at FEMA . They would do well to consider you for the job. Imagine having a backup plan in case of a hurricane .

Whats that ? You would let all the hot air outta the politicians and it would blow rita out to sea ?

Chris,

I've never judged Arabian Ponies, so I'm not sure if I'm qualified to head up FEMA.

As yesterday - ABC radio here in Sydney was full of info re RITA. We were told it is now upgraded to a cat 5 (est 265kph winds).

They were actually interviewing live, 2 Aussies living in Houston, one was on freeway where he had been for 4 hrs trying to get home from work. The other was his wife at home. Sound quality was extraordinary.

The guy stuck on the freeway said it was a hot humid day with clear blue skies but lots of very frustrated drivers.

They are saying that Galveston is still the expected landfall and Houston expected to be impacted. We were also told that New Orleans was once again under a mandatory evac order as it may be hit by tidal surges.

I join everybody in wishing the folks in Rita's path safety. FWIW, though, there was no answering the phone or returning emails at cpap.com today - at least not when I tried them.

Ditto Morpheus.

billmyinsurance.com as well as cpap.com are closed for biz until Monday according to the recording at BMI.com.

I'm thinking Johnny didn't quite anticipate the nightmare that this "roadtrip" would be. The interstates are parking lots in East Texas.

Hope all are safe.

Absolute gridlock! 100 degrees and 114 on the freeway. High humidity. It is miserable. No gas. Tempers, cars breaking down, heat strokes, heart attacks. It's crazy. That is why I have not left yet as well as my wife had to work.
