So on tuesday night, i had a sore throat
wednesday i had a fullblown sinus cold, totally stuffed up. painful throat, just an all around nasty cold.
thursday was worse, i couldn't even talk.
today? I'm almost 100% just a little stuffy
this is UNHEARD OF for me. in the past, i would get a cold, it would get worse, my lungs would get involved, I'd get bronchitis. I've had pneumonia a few times, because once the cold settles in my lungs, that's it.
the only difference this year is cpap treatment. I followed the advice and cranked up the humidity last night, and woke up this morning feeling GREAT.
so, is the difference the actual therapy allowing me to sleep or is the difference the fact that it keeps my nose open, etc.
I don't know, but I love it.
cpap helps me get better? faster? hmm

Could be a little of everything, including breathing filtered air at night and the therapy (good sleep) is helping your immune system, too. I know that there's only been one time (this Spring, and then it was very brief) that I've had anything resembling a cold or flu since Thanksgiving week of 2005 (flu that time).xiola wrote:So on tuesday night, i had a sore throat

Re: cpap helps me get better? faster? hmm
I've been using cpap for 7+ years now. I have had fewer cold and flu bugs during that time. They don't last very long - not as long as they did before cpap.
I raise my humidity setting just a point when I am congested.
The one thing I really notice is that I sleep a lot better during a cold with cpap, that I every did before cpap.
I think that, because I sleep well even with the congested, that I am able to get over colds and flu a lot faster.

Re: cpap helps me get better? faster? hmm
I changed my eating habits (healthier) about four years prior to PAP therapy. I noticed a definite improvement in my immune system from that.
I've only been on PAP therapy since February, but I have yet to get a full-blown cold which I always get at least once a year -- cooooooome on December!
