I complained to my medical supplier about waking up with cotton mouth during the night, so she gave me a new humidifier unit. It performed the same, so now another person at the same medical supply store said the new unit doesn't use as much water because it's more efficient (efficient at saving water maybe, but hardly efficient at keeping me comfortable or keeping my teeth from rotting out), but that if I really wanted more moisture, that I would need to buy a heated hose, because it would would "pull" more moisture from the tank. Does anyone know if this is true?

What is your humidifier setting? If you fill up the humidifier at night, how much water is left the next morning?

Your problem is likely unrelated to the humidifier. You are mouthbreathing and this is causing dry mouth. Exactly which mask are you using?

Three questions.
