Paul, that is because the statement IS mis-leading to those who are new to CPAP or new to a Resmed. It gives the impression that the Resmeds will not treat above 10 cms.
Its not all that difficult to say that Resmed S8s respond to apneas above 10 cms with evident precursor events, but not to apneas above 10 cms without any evident precursor events which could well be central apneas.

How 'bout just "ResMed machines respond to all defined indicators that indicate an apnea or hypopnea might occur; when the pressue is above 10, they do not respond to events that are not preceded by these indicators."

Yep, if one feels that it is necessary to mention the "10 cm" thing at all either phrase is fair and reasonable.
