Good luck!! I agree with others, your horse is really gorgeous!!!!!!!! I have always wanted to move out to a few acres but after my heart problem my wife won't even talk to me about it any more. I am still envious!!!!

Check back as often as you can, I might still need someone to fix my computer!!! Thanks for all your help!!

Paso Finos???!!!! TWO Paso Finos??!!! And one a buckskin?? How neat. We have two red dun QH mares. Not so smooth a ride as those Pasos by ANY means. But we love 'em anyway. Do Pasos come in grulla as well? I know you can't ride color but a well built grulla w/just a star ..... ahhhhh. T'would be nice.

Grulla? Is that sort of like a roan / grey buckskin? You would probably like Rookie. He is Carino's half brother. Here is is below when I got him and was more roan turning grey and now he is all grey with black stockings, mane and black tail with a bit of white. Black strip down the back. I don't have a good current picture of him. He actually has filled out more, muscled up and his head is prettier now. Probably not exactly quarterhorse grulla but I do believe that since Pasos come in pretty much all colors that grulla would be available if you searched.

Rookie is a bit larger and suits my husband's large size. Not quarter horse size but for Pasos he is considered good size at probably a little over 15 hands. Carino is 14.3 hands. Rookie actually has the better gait. I sort of spoiled Carino doing endurance races and training with Arabs and he learned that Arab trot so he is a bit harder to keep in gait. Rookie was never allowed to learn that bad habit.

The Paso Fino gait is awesome and they will fly......a joy to watch my boys when they run across the pasture matching step for step. Come to SW Missouri sometime and I will take you riding.

Thanks Dori,
I will be around fairly often. I just won't have as much time to play on the computer as I do now.
And yes, I am a pistol packin mama. I do know how to handle firearms. I have several. Except for the time from 2002-2007 when I move out to Las Vegas to be full time grandma to my only grandson, I have always been a country girl. I hate city life. My idea of heaven is 40 acres down at the end of the road in the middle of nowhere. This little place doesn't qualify for heaven but it is much better than living in town.

I spent today working on a hundred year old antique vanity/dresser that I got at auction last summer. Looks almost brand new now. It is amazing what a good oiling will do for old dried up wood. It is so cool. No nails anywhere, all dovetailed joints and the carvings make me think the whole thing was handmade because nothing is "perfectly" symmetrical. Even the mirror and marble is still looking good. Old stuff just has more character than all this new cookie cutter furniture.

I will try to get some good pictures of my boys. It is hard to do when they look so woolly with their winter coats.

Brenda

My son is in Arkansas, near Little Rock. I just might take you up on that offer one of these days, Pugsy! He is beautiful.

Actually, our old mare (29) is "my" size, small even for a QH, but still a QH not a pony or Quarter pony. Our young mare (12) is too dang tall!!!! Grulla is a hard color to describe but they have to have the "Spanish" markings, i.e. stripes on the legs, smutty face, black mane and tail, and, of course, the dorsal stripe.

Oh, m'gawd! That vanity/dresser sounds fantastic!!! I sooooo agree w/you about the old furniture!! Solid woood, none of this veneer crap, etc.

Now if I can just remember how to get up on that horse. It's been almost 20 years since I rode. See I really do look like my avatar!!!

Open invitation Slinky. I am about an hour west of Springfield. My friend who has been keeping my horses also has a couple of Pasos that are a bit smaller available for riding. Or do like I do, I find something to step up on (rail, fence, truck, etc). I seemed to have shrunk more and my knees aren't nearly as nimble so I don't bounce right up on the saddle like I used to. Hell getting old.

My sister saw the vanity/dresser last night after all the work I did... She said it didn't look like the one she saw me buy at the auction Dry, dirty and drawers wouldn't go all the way in. Now, all clean, nice and shiny and the drawers work perfectly. I probably quadrupled the value with a few of hours of work.. I will have to get a picture of it to show it off.

Sent you a PM about a grulla Paso Mare that I spotted for sale. If I had the money I might try for her. She is probably about a 2 hour drive or so from me. She looked pretty nice. Horse market is very slow around here, she will have trouble getting that asking price now. Though that is what I paid for Carino 9 years ago. Horse market has really tanked here and unless you have lots of ribbons and do lots of shows, there just isn't much going on for just pleasure horses.

I have always wanted one of those long rider coats but I am so darn short that they are all way too long. Story of my life. I was thrilled when capri pants were the rage. They hit my ankles and finally didn't have to look for short petite's.

I bet you remember how to get up on the horse.. We don't forget..But we do have to modify our mounting skills somewhat. What with bad knees, bad backs and slow everything else, we just have to use little aids to get us up in the saddle. I can make just about anything work.

I think I still got enough brain cells to remember how but like you said enough thing don't work as well as they used to so I might need a little BOOST!!

Boost, Jerry? Betchya a goose at the right time would do the trick!!

Ahhh, Pugsy. That Paso mare is sooooo tempting. But ... daughter wouldn't even look, didn't want to be tempted. Men are such a PITA!!! I thought I raised her to have more moxie than that. But evidently her dad's good common sense made more of an impression on her. More's the pity. *sigh*

Pugsy, that long rider coat hits just below my ankles. You ever do the Rolex in April at KY Horse Park you NEED one! Always at least one day of downpour for as many years as I can remember. Which reminds me. My hat leaked the other day and I've gotta oil it up good. That cold trickle behind my ear and down my neck was NO FUN! Had to go over and take a last look for a while at my neighbor's 2008 colt by Perfect Soul out of a Seattle Slew granddaughter. He's off to Lexington and the race trainer this afternoon. The farm lost her 2009 colt by Chapel Royal at 2 weeks of age. She's bred back to Louis Michael for 2010.

When daughter and I can make the trip to Arkansas (hopefully this summer) I'll take you up on that offer for a visit. Hey! why DON'T you buy that Paso mare for now and I'll buy her from you next year - if son-in-law ever gets the barn and fencing ready. I've thought of trading him in on a goat and shooting the goat - but he's such a good guy other than about the horses .... I guess we'll keep him.

Pugsy,

I love the Buckskin. Very pretty. I always wanted one but the closest I ever got was a mustang/quarter horse with half of one ear!!
