Below are my thoughts and feelings regarding the Regenesis Pillow from PurSleep.com. Needless to say, my wife wasn't very pleased to learn that yet ANOTHER pillow would be added to our bed.


First impressions after opening the box

The quilted material is quite thick and durable, and the stitching is quite well done. There were a few stray threads, but nothing that seems to have compromised the integrity of the pillow. I opted for the pillow case which is very soft. The pillow was folded and packaged nicely in plastic bags, and it came with a well-thought instruction pamphlet. The buckwheat hulls were packaged their own plastic bag. There were definitely plenty of hulls. I can't imagine using all of them.


Filling the pillow

Before even opening the plastic bag containing the hulls, I decided to get a large Rubbermaid container to hold the extra hulls (and all the hulls when I wash the pillow). After reading the pamphlet, I decided to use about 2/3 to 3/4 of the hulls. They can get away from you, so prepare to vacuum, or place something down on the floor first.


First night with the pillow

Definitely an adjustment from my contour memory foam pillow. Just like my brain had to adjust to sleeping all night with my CPAP, my neck was not used to the support. I fidgeted and fidgeted, finally making divots that felt right. However, upon waking, I had absolutely ZERO neck pain. Mind you, I have been dealing with morning neck pain for a long time, and it must have been from my pillows.


Nights 2-4

I can't totally account this to the pillow, but my AI has been zero the last three nights, I haven't woken up at all in the middle of the night, and I feel completely refreshed with NO NECK PAIN!


PROS

• Very comfortable.
• Completely customizable from the density (amount of hulls) to shape (placement of hulls).
• No mask leaks from pressure against a foam pillow.
• Excellent cervical/shoulder support (I'm a side sleeper).
• Quiet - The noise of the buckwheat hulls don't seem to bother me when I move and seem quieter than other buckwheat pillows I have tried.
• Walled Design - The 4" wall on the sides of the pillow really helps create good support, so the pillow doesn't collapse.

CONS

• Price - While this pillow is high quality, and works for me, I feel it is about $10-20 over what I would like to have paid.
• Noise - While they didn't bother me, I could see the shifting of the hulls bothering some who are sensitive to sound.
• Washing - Taking the hulls out to wash the pillow will be a pain, which is why I bought the pillow case to avoid having to do that too often.

OVERALL

I'm very pleased with Bret's products (I own the PAPcap and scents), and you can add this to the list. It's a very good quality pillow that I highly recommend. If he can find a way to manufacture with the same quality at a lower price, that would be great. It is still worth spending the money. I'll report back after using it for a month or two to see if it holds up.


My Regenesis pillow just arrived in the mail! I was hoping to get it before the Thanksgiving weekend! YES!

I'm going to test it out this weekend and give a review next week. I'm so excited! I really think this is going to help a lot of my shoulder and neck problems, since I'm a side/tummy sleeper.
