OH! NO! Rita is heading my way!
Take care R&R. Thinking of you on the other side of the globe and wishing you (and everyone else there) the best.

This morining on the way to work & listening to our Australian national radio station (ABC) we got a lot of commentary re RITA.
We were told that the keys have largely been evacuated & this may also happen in Texas once more info is known on the landfall.
Seems it is now expected to turn into a cat 4 hurricane and the belief is it will hit the mainland west of Louisiana possibly between Galveston & Houston.
So R&R, take care.

Yup, it look's serious. Galveston is under mandatory evacuation.
I am watching it closely. I went out today and bought plenty of power outage foods.
Please turn dear Rita, you think Katrina did damage, wait till the bills of a direct hit hitting the fourth largest city in the country!
Thanks God we don't have a moron for a mayor and governor. We have buses standing by.

I'm here in Fort Bend County along the Brazos River. 25 miles south of down town Houston for those not familiar with Houston. We are leaving town at a three or above hitting anywhere between Lake Jackson/Freeport to Galveston. I am afraid of the Brazos backing up and the bayous backing up at the same time overwhelming the levee system here. Have flood insurance so we are ok there.. just have to protect the family..
Ironic... My equipment is coming tomorrow and I may not have a chance to use it till next week after things blow over.

Well good luck & God bless - I know many here will be thinking of you guys and your families as this unfolds.
A cat 4 hurricane sure makes our little flow generators grossly insignificant.

I figure I have til tomorrow night or Thursday morning to decide to either stay or beat it out. If I run, it will be the first time ever, but I am, getting too old and brittle to stay and endure these things. So, if I disappear late Thursday night for awhile, you will know I am heding for points unknown.
to all my fellow Houstonians, want to rent a bus?

I don't have brain fog...See? I can say it. Doesn't mean it's true, but I can say it.rock and roll wrote:That's OK, none of us here can say we don't have brain fog
Yes, I am a little punchy this morning. I had to stay up late last night to bid on something on eBay for my husband that was ending. Am I much more tired than usual this morning? You betcha! Definitely a little punchy. Better stay away from the boards for a few hours till I fully wake up and hopefully start to feel alive again. But did we win the auction? But of course!!! Now I just have to pay the price the rest of the day (and I don't mean for the item we won).
Sorry to yank the old chain a little (just couldn't resist). I promise, once I'm done with this cup of tea, I'll behave nicely.

Know the feeling. I got maybe 3 hours sleep myself. I have a principle in town today to call on a maga major account I have been working on, while at the same time I need to get ready for this monster storm coming our way. The news just said they expect it to be a cat 5 storm! Could be the largest ever to hit the states!
