Ultra Mirage FF Medium, but Small Quattro?

Post by ChrisC » Thu Nov 19, 2009 12:44 pm

Just wondering if anyone has experience with the Quattro FF mask. Using the sizing guide on cpap.com, I came up with a medium Ultra mirage, but the same measurements gave me a small with the Quattro FF. I know I could pick up the replacement insurance, but I'd honestly be out the cost of the insurance plus the cost of shipping several times over (I'm in Canada). By the time I shipped the mask here, back and reordered the replacement, I'd be at half the cost of the mask w/ insurance.

I could go to a brick and mortar to buy this.. but I'd much rather give the business to CPAP.com. These forums were a godsend when I began my therapy!

If I am not mistaken, these are both Resmed masks and I don't think Resmed is allowing online providers like cpap.com, to ship their products (any of their products) to Canada or anywhere outside the US, as of a few months ago.

You need to check that. You may get what you want on cpapauction.com though. I don't think they are prohibited from shipping to Canada yet.

I've bought a number of "never used", "unopened" masks on the auction site and most sellers will ship to Canada if you ask them the question.

Be sure to ask them about shippping via the postal service (to avoid brokerage charges) and get a shipping quote form them. Some charge a very high price for shipping to Canada. It may be worthwhile to pay a higher shipping of you get a good deal on the item but that you have to decide!

There definitely is a difference in fit between the Quattro and the UltraMirage. I have both, both in small, and the Quattro is significantly larger and fits me differently. The UltraMirage barely extends beyond the corners of my mouth, whereas the Quattro extends well onto my cheeks.

I have both masks also and use the small Quattro with small headgear and a medium UMFF. The Quattro is now shipped with Med. headgear on all masks so if you need the small like I do you have to order it like that. I found out the hard way when Apria shipped me my small Quattro with the med. headgear and I couldn't figure out why it wasn't fitting the same. Finally looked on back of headgear and saw that it was Med. which is way too big for me. Just a heads up for you because Apria charged my Ins. Co $28 extra to send me the small headgear even tho it was their mistake to not inform me of the change in the way the mask is shipped with the headgear now. When I got my first one it was shipped with a small headgear but not anymore so order accordingly.

I have both masks. I was fitted first with a large Quattro for my initial titration, which was way too big. Eventually migrated to the small. I now use a medium standard UMFF which is much more comfortable.

I think Apria employees are trained to 'make it fit' by overtightening. Quattro + Apria = a large gouge in your nose. At least that was my experience**.

** Your results may vary.
