Respironic BiPap beeping when card

Post by ProfessorEd » Tue Nov 17, 2009 12:20 pm

My BiPap beeps whenever I try to insert the card (I have tried all ways so it is just not being inserted wrong).

My last attempt to read data showed I could read older reading, but no new ones.

Any guesses on what is wrong and good solutions.

If the card is not reversed I suspect the card may have gone bad. The beeping is generally a sigh that the card is not connected or is corrupted so that it won't except data from the machine.

I had the same problem with my CPAP when I first got it, so just for kicks and giggles, I removed the card module and reseated it into the machine. I haven't had any problems since then.

Ed, I suppose you've tried gently cleaning the little gold rectangle on the business end of the card...

Rested Gal does it again.

Her very diplomatic, carefully worded suggestion worked. I will probably be able to get data again.

I owe a lot to her because of some earlier help she gave me in getting badly needed software.

Not to mention the value of the thread suggestively discussing "Restedgal's panty hose", which really dealt with how to secure masks (for any wives that read it).

I got a return call from Apria's expert.

Lacking RestedGal's expertise, all they could suggest was that I was inserting the card wrong, or that the card needed to be replaced.

Alas, when I try to read the card I get the following error message:

"Error Number 8004020B"

Des any one kmow what this means?

Error Number 8004020B simply means there is a problem communicating with the card. It could be a multitude of problems. I did get a new card that was a bit long. You might try pushing on the card while it downloads rather just putting it in the card reader and turning it loose. It worked on the card I had. You can also do a search for "error 800420B". There should be several discussions on this error but I don't remember is anyone came up with a better solution.

I typed this into Google:

Error Number 8004020B site:cpaptalk.com

Adding those words at the end of what you're looking for... site:cpaptalk.com ... sometimes brings up more specific topics than does using the Search thingy on this message board itself. Thanks to blarg and College Girl for teaching me the Google "site:cpaptalk" trick!

That Google search came up with these two topics -- dunno if they'll be of any help or not, Ed:

Interestingly, when told to read the card it gives signs of doing so as it normally would. it say downloading data. It then asks if I want to return the card to the same patient. After I click yes, I then get this error.

It is only when I request a report do I get this error. I can get a green light (turning to red when I insert the card).

Talking to the Apria expert he said he frequently gets the same error which he can fix by plugging and unplugging the device repeatedly. (Nicely, he raised no problems about I having a reader and offered to send me a new card on the chance the card was defective).

I would have thought if there was a problem with the card or inability to contact it, that it would give an error indication immediately.
