Question about Smart Card - Encore Pro

Post by Krelvin » Sun Nov 12, 2006 7:10 pm

Up until this time, I have always said no when asked to erase the smart card.

I notice that I am missing days from the data when I download every 4 days to up to a week between downloads.

What is the capacity of the Smart Card?

If I say Erase... Will that effect the data that has already been collected by Encore?

Machine is a BiPap Auto

Hi Krelvin,

If you erase the smart card, all data will be off the card, but will still be on your computer. If you use myEncore, all the data will show up on reports.

As long as you do not erase your downloads from the computer, you will have your data.

The card will hold 7 sessions of full detailed sessions, naps or nights and 30 days of info, that will be used in the averages and other charts.

Usually the oldest detailed is erased to hold the most recent detailed info.

I hope I did not confuse you.

I can do this, I will do this.

Nope.

It is possible then that since I've not erased the card, I'm losing detailed info. Makes sense.

Will do an Erase next time.

I get a good backup of the MS-SQL data on a regular basis so I shouldn't loose that either.

It's best to go with 6 days, BiPAP may take more space, APAP will go 7 days with my TANK's. Jim

Krelvin,

I am glad I did not confuse you. LOL

How do you backup the MS-SQL data?

Its not important that you erase it, its just important that you download it before the number of sessions is used up as it will write over the oldest sessions.

Actually, It looks like the missing data is actually in the database. But MyEncore is not seeing it.

Chart from EncorePro
EncorePro Chart

Chart from MyEncore
Myencore Chart

Note the gaps in information.

I don't think the detailed data is there for those days. Here is my guess (without digging into the DB tables to check) The EncorePro chart is probably created from the stored compliance (sessions) data. On the other hand the MyEncore chart is loaded from the Histogram chart table which appears to be generated from detailed data. Just a guess but I suspect that is might be whats doing on in this case.

I won't begin to tell you what a mess the DB schema is in Encore Pro... its horrid

Kevin,

I doubt if I have an answer, but I was wondering which version of Encore Pro you're using.....1.5i or 1.6i?. I assume you must be using the MyEncore version 1.5B7?

Edited note:
I just read Jskinner's response...... The compliance information may be there (number of hours), but if you don't have detailed charts for those days, that might explain it.

The data is stored in a directory. On mine it is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$ENCOREPRO

If you turn off the server, You can backup that data.

I think, it is as easy as replacing that area with the backed up copy.

I've not tried it yet... but I would have on of the DBA's at work figure it out if I really got into a bind.

I always turn off the server when I am not using it, so my normal backup system, captures that directory automatically.

Erasing the Card, turned out to be a bit more fun that I had planned on.

There was an error communicating with the SmartCard.
Check your connections and try the operation again.

Error Source:RespironicsSmartCard2:Type0.1
Error Number:8004020B

No big deal...

Hours later, Heading for bed, I inserted the card into the Bipap Auto and BEEP BEEP BEEP... Didn't like the card.

Not a good thing.

So I came back into my office and tried to format the card, Nope. Erase the Card, Nope. Write to the Card... Nope.

Did some searching and found the following thread.

viewtopic.php?t=14868&highlight=smartcard+error

Turns out, I was plugged into a USB2 Hub. Moved it directly to the computer and I could erase, setup and write to the card again.

Two hours after I wanted to go to bed... I finally got there.
