Fifth Night
Re: Fifth Night
Oh I want it, make no mistake about that, too geeky not to want all the data; it's just that with extremely limited $ right now, what I have goes to that which supports/increases survival.

I've always been of the opinion that information is an absolute prerequisite to survival. It's why we evolved senses.
Re: Fifth Night
Well, I'm at the place where one pays bills, buys food, buys meds, buys gas, asks is this car trip really necessary?, and then decide on what to do with anything left over...leftover

Re: Fifth Night
Oh, I totally get it. Who knows? I haven't even seen my bills from the sleep lab yet. I may be joining you there soon!
Re: Fifth Night
Tenth night. I've slowly been raising my minimum pressure toward my titration from the sleep lab (9). The machine keeps wanting me around 11-12. One night it was over 13. Anyway, I moved my minimum to 8.0 last night and had AI < 1, and HI < 5. Excellent, IMO. I can't help but think that if I had just gone the 'normal' route, I'd have had a much longer cycle getting to this point.
Interesting thing (which I kind of expected, so maybe I'm a biased observer) - but I've begun to recall dream fragments. That hasn't happened in quite awhile.
Have I mentioned that this place rocks?

Re: Fifth Night
Reading all of Cavallo and Muse-Inc's posts is like reading a transcript of the mini-debate I've had going on in my head the last few weeks. Just when the impatient, spendy side of me decides to break down and buy the $69 reader on CPAP.com, the more frugal, let's see if we can find a deal side of me wants to find an alternative! I have my doctor's follow-up on Dec. 16th so times-a-wasting guys -- make a decision and report back to me to save me from myself! I'm counting on you!
Re: Fifth Night
LOL!! I'm glad we're helping you to be as indecisive as we are!
Anyway, I'm putting off my decision until I have to actually go pay for my machine. I haven't as yet. When that happens, if my sticker shock is light, I'm leaning toward the USB interface minus the card.

Re: Fifth Night
Awwwwwww Man! That's the other decision I can't make -- card reader or USB interface... it's no wonder I can't sleep with big, important decisions like this going round and round in my head!
Re: Fifth Night
It's just one less thing to break, and my computer is light, portable, and frequently near my bed anyway.
Re: Fifth Night
Then there's the ResLink which reports more data http://www.resmed.com/us/products/resli ... c=patients. The geek in me loves data regardless of cost; the rest of me says when you have the funds and a recording oximeter, then you can consider purchasing -- the endless inner argument
My AHI is low and 50% of the time my AI=0, so I think my $ will go to bills, meds, food, and gasoline for the time being. Now, when I get a job, all bets are off

Re: Fifth Night
Mercifully, the compatibility list for that thing does not include my machine. Also, if ResMed takes cheap, OEM smart card readers, slaps a logo on them and practically triples the price, imagine how much they'd charge for the oximeter that plugs into that proprietary connector?
Still, it would be handy to have one device to record everything, and see the O2 and pulse data all on the same graph.
But heck, why stop there?

Re: Fifth Night
We have the same APAP, it's sold as the Spirit overseas. A few members have it, at least one with an AutoSet. ResMed is slow to update their online docs.

Re: Fifth Night
For the first eighteen months or so, I checked my numbers religiously. I graphed and recorded and compared and contrasted.
Then I realized that it's rather pointless to be questing for the perfect number if you feel like $*** since after all, the point is to sleep well. So I started only looking at my numbers if I felt noticeably better or worse than average.
Then my old machine broke and was replaced with a newer model. I haven't bothered to buy the software for the new model (it's been nearly a year). I can tell you what I feel like with what AHI, and also that the real correlation with how good I feel is (positively) how much time I spent asleep and (negatively) whether my alarm went off/cat jumped on me/whatever in the middle of a dream and woke me up. And if I want to know my leak rate, I ask my husband if it woke him up.
My point is, you need to learn to trust how you *actually* feel more than how the machine *says* you should feel.

Oh, I am definitely paying attention to that. I do not for one second intend to make the numbers my religion. I have to begin somewhere, however.tillymarigold wrote:My point is, you need to learn to trust how you *actually* feel more than how the machine *says* you should feel.
Incidentally - I decided. I paid the full shot, and bought the card-free USB interface.
Re: Fifth Night
Cavallo.
Hows the USB interface working for you?
Any regrets?
Thanks,
Phil
