I'm wondering something. I've taken 2 naps in the last month with the machine (most of the time, I nap without it on..I know..not good)
In the 54 minutes for the first nap (pressure 12) I had an AHI of 1. Only one hypopnea. In the nap today, I slept for 1.09 hours (pressure Ok, I keep getting a "cool smiley face" so I'll write the word out..it's a pressure eight, and had 0!! ZERO apneas, or hypopneas. I'm wondering if the numbers that I see usually are for the WHOLE night? Not just the hourly average? Just wondering why the short times are so low...

Just a guess...maybe because not enough time passed during your short naps for you to go into REM? According to what I've read, the first REM period usually happens about an hour and a half into sleep. Greater numbers of apneas and hypopneas generally occur during REM.Just wondering why the short times are so low...

that sounds logical, as I don't remember any dreams during those naps *nods* A lot of times, I'll start dreaming the minute my head hits the pillow if I take a nap, but not today...rested gal wrote:Just a guess...maybe because not enough time passed during your short naps for you to go into REM? Barb,
I agree with rested gal eplanation, but I had been wondering if you are looking at the full nights numbers before you mentioned that. You're getting hypos in the 50s, on your titrated pressure - and that seems far too hight to me.
I don't know the Resmed software - but there are users here who do - maybe you could start a thread about reading the Resmed's results.
