GoodKnight 425 with Silverlining

Post by Nitroq2 » Wed Dec 08, 2004 10:24 pm

Recently purchased and recieved the silverlining software to use with my new 425 after reading the interview above and following the link to the software. After the install I get an error when connecting about it not seeing my machine and something to do with the registry and reinstalling. I have sent an email to cpap.com but thought I might get a quicker response here from some of you guys and gals. I imagine there is an update that I can download does anyone know where on the PB site you can get downloads? The shipped version was 3.3 and I am guesing there is a 3.4 now available. Any help would be apprciated. By the way I really like the machine I first used a vpapII and it was replaced by this one. Very small very quite and so far the sleep has been good. I have a pressure of 14 and 18 the vpapII was more forceful it seems than this one it seems to get on pattern quick and rarely do I fight the machine like before. Anyway new to the board thanks for hearing me out.

Hi Nitroq,

Did you have your virus protection off when you installed the software?

I do believe that version 3.3 is the software that works with the 425. I have 3.2 and that is not that old.

I will check at the office tomorrow and post the answer.

Ted

I didnt but just went back and reinstalled with all that turned off and still no luck. A quick look in the SL3 folder shows exe files for the 418s and 420s but nothing for the 425.
Here is the exact error: Device is not know in registry. Re-Install to register it automatically.
It acts like its reading it on com1 but then fails with that error no errors on the other ports but nothing happens.
I really appreciate your response, thanks Allen

The version of Silverlining that will download the Puritan Bennett 425 Bi-Level, is Silverlining version 3.6.

Version 3.6 was reased on December 8, and will be available on Tuesday, December 14.

Titrator,
Do you know if that will be available for download as update for existing 3.0 series customers or will I have to ship this software back and get the newer software sent to me?
Thanks for your research,
Allen

Manufactures do not offer upgrade paths from one version to another, you must purchase the software again to get an updated version.

. To use Silverlining software with the 425 bilevel, it must be version 3.6, which wiill be available on Dec. 14.

Just be sure you don't buy it from cpap.com. I promise you, it won't match up with their description of it, and then they'll refuse to permit you to return it.

Strainge, I don't know about the return policy, but Silverlining was exactly as I expected from cpap.com.

The PB sales flyer just talks about silverlining 3 not 3.6.

What type of computer are you using?

I had problems hooking up my IBM thinkpad. The provided cable didn't match the ports in the back. I ended up getting a USB to serial adapter with software emulator.

Silverlining reporting for the 425 (the bi-pap) is far more limited than its reporting for the 420e. Bill, and anyone else with SL3, open one of the 425 demo data files and you'll see that. No apnea's etc reported, and no indexes.

PB sales reps (well, at least one I know of...) seem a bit confused about that, to put it politely, and one of our posters' RT has had a sales rep presenting 420E data as though it belonged to the 425 took a lot of back and forth communitcation to get him to admit his mistake.

If you try to open a 425 manual (also on the ver. 3.6 cd) you will see what looks like an unfinished product.
