Did you change mask after reviewing Rescan reports?

Post by tcaron » Fri Nov 13, 2009 3:09 pm

I recently bought Rescan and the results are interesting. A few too many hypopneas and an occational apnea of 10 to 15 seconds.

I'm using the new Mirage Gel Nasal but wonder if I try my old Mirage full face, etc. if I could improve the results.

Would a higher pressure bring down the hypopneas?

Has anyone reviewed their rescan results ansd changed masks as a result of the reports?

Thanks,

Tom C

I review my ResScan data every day. I'm a newbie at this, but this is what I do. I look at when the AI and leaks occur, to see if there is a correlation. Sometimes there is, sometimes not. I've noticed more leakage with the Comfortlite 2 Simple nasal mask, then the Pillows or Direct Seals. ( I alternate because of sore nares, until I get more used to it.) However, with both interfaces, the leaks are within the 24L/M recommended by Resmed, for my S8 Autoset II. The leaks always peak, when I take off my mask, for the few seconds before I turn of the cpap.

If there is a cluster of AI, then I wonder if a change in pressure could help, or is it during REM sleep, or because I'm sleeping on my back, or just having a bad night. If you change your pressure, do so gradually, and only change one thing at a time, then stay there for a week or so.

If your mask is uncomfortable and you are getting leaks that affect your therapy, changing masks might be worth a try.

I hope others who are more knowledgeable will add to this. Perhaps if you post one of your

Perhaps if you post one of your reports, someone can give you their thoughts.
