I think a OSA Get Together would be great!!!!!! Rock & Roll, I love the Texas map and Neversleeps, I absolutely love your pictures!!!!! Being from Iowa, I know I definately don't want our get together to be held in Minnesota in the middle of the WINTER!!! Summer would be nice, though!!! Money is tight for me also, but would save my pennies for a trip to anywhere in US. You all have given so much support and invaluable information to all us Hoseheads (It should be called the OSA HOSEHEAD CONVENTION). Oh, by the way, the Hosp where I had my Sleep Study done is having their first CPAP Support Group Meeting next week!!!!! Do you believe it???? Maybe they figured out Hoseheads need help!!!! I will let you all know how it goes!!!! GREAT IDEA, I'll be glad to help in anyway I can!!!!!

So do I presume that this is a go-ahead and I should start trying to find places that will give us good rates for a group convention-type vacation? I really thought a cruise would be fun as no one could "escape" us. But that would put a double burden on some people to first fly to the ship and then pay for the cruise.

So, seriously, where would you think the best spots to check out would be? I am ready to hear serious suggestions -NEVERSLEEPS, SERIOUS SUGGESTIONS !!!

Central Florida has lots of air connections and competition keeps the rates good. Plus lots of accomodation from inexpensive to mega-expensive.

No one should be forced to go to Disney. But I have season passes for Busch Gardens and Seaworld that let's me get discounted rates for guests .

(OK, I'm biased. Such a location would make it trivial for me to attend. But think how inviting it will be come February when neverSleep's pictures become reality!)

Neversleeps, you are making me homesick.

"Yeah hey der, don't yah know".

Okay, so I now live in the NW burbs of Chicago, so I didn't exactly move far away. I still get a taste of winter. But it's just not the same.

If nothing else, I can tell my kids that I've been out when it is -60 (and that's the real temp. none of that wussy "wind chill" factor here). The plus side of winters like that are than when it gets to 10-15 degrees above zero, you feel positively warm. )

All joking aside, I did find growing up in MN winters pretty dang cold. But summers at the lake were some of the best childhood memories I have. (And yes, citizenship in MN requires a boat and a snowblower...)

Eh, sorry I just so totally ran off track.

So why not Chicago? Doesn't really have any touristy draws but it's sort of in the center of the country, sort of.

No touristy draws in chicago? Maybe not if you live there... but I'd go for the Field Museum, the Art Institute, Water Tower Place, the zoo, and any of the theater or ballet anytime. For real tourists there is always the museum, the art institute, and the Sears or John Hancock towers. But I'm not into heights too much. And there are wonderful weekend packages at quality hotels. You all realize, of course, that the fact that I live in Milwaukee has nothing to do with my vote for Chicago as a meeting place.

I got snowed in in Chicago once on a business trip and found a really great jazz bar. Actually there were a number of them to choose from as I recall, all in a similar area with outstanding restaurants.

My family once had a day-long layover in Chicago when on a group trip to Europe (from Florida via Chicago ???). The tour group put us on a bus for an achitecture tour of downtown. Fascinating! Then we were left at Navy pier to kill the afternoon.

Another event would be to have a photo shoot with us modelling our masks (or not) so we can all get new avatars. With others standing around the photographer making faces and cracking jokes, we're bound to have some hilarious photos and lots of smiling faces!
