She has used the machine off and on for the last two years. And she can not stand it. I have told her to get help, but she has not. May be you can help. She complains that it leaves lines , not comfortable, will not wear it more than a two hours.
When she does not wear it, she goes back to the , stopping breathing, snoring etc. She knows all the down side when she does not wear it. So, I am sure that if we can find out how to make it comfortable, or a new design? I saw one on the net , fits in front of nose, seems to have a mouthpiece. We never got the proper help when she was put on the machine. Sure hope you can help, or where we might get help..

My wife's cpap machine.
There are many new mask technologies that have been released recently that are very comfortable.
I use a Respironics ComfortGel small and have no leaks and have the straps adjusted very lightly, no lines even after 8 hours of sleep. ResMed also makes a mask call the Activa that I hear is wonderful and that users report having the straps very loose on it as well without any leaks.
Besides the masks are products called Nasal Pillows that gently fit against the nostrals, so as to have no contact to the face.
The best thing is to find a homecare provider that will let her fit several masks during a single appointment and help her to find the best one possible.
As to the machine itself, I use a Respironics REMstar Pro with C-Flex. C-Flex is similar to a BiPAP machine in that the pressure is reduced when you exhale, so that it's not hard to breathe out. I often times wake up and pull my mask loose because I'm sure it had stopped running, it's that comfortable to me.
Please tell her not to give up. If the mask concern is for cosmetic reasons, there are so many benefits to proper compliance towards feeling and looking good I really recommend it to her. Just feeling refreshed after sleeping is enough to improve ones smile, and that always makes one more beautiful.

your wife
Bobcat,
I hope your wife appreciates you trying to help her.
I am new at this myself, but I would say go to someone new and talk to them. Each person in the forum seems to have their own style. If something doesn't work they try a suggestion from someone else.
I am slowly getting used to it. I only have my dogs to check on me!! Last night was one of the best nights I have had. The night before I took off the mask during my sleep. So some nights are a little crazy, but I can say that I sleep through the night now. Before I got up once or twice a night.
So tell your wife that you care and go see someone else to help.
Good Luck.
