Just as I was nodding off...
That %$£"ing itch starts just at the side of my nose
Don't move, you just got the mask to sit right, try wrinkling the nose a bit... yes that seems to have lessened the itch a bit...
No,there it is again, like a small worm crawling about on that tiny bit of nose just under the mask seal
Force your self to ignore it and try not to get stressed and start to lose the sleepy feeling...
The little worm starts break dancing...
Perhaps if I Just sneaked a finger under there I could...
A nano second of bliss and the itch is gone only to be replaced by a sequence of gentle insidious squealing farts and a faint breeze fluttering your eyelash
Then..
%*@"%¬#'S TO IT!!
Ten minutes later...
Now where was I ?...
Oh yes...
Ring any bells?

Yup -- happens to me a lot. Hope someone can offer a solution.
Re: Just as I was nodding off...
I had similar problems plus a pressure sore in the first month of treatment.
I complained to my supplier and she shifted me to the Swift.
I've been using nasal pillow style since (in my forth year) and have not had either problem since.
My best nights came with the Swift LT and Comfort Lite 2.
I heartily recommend nasal pillow type masks.

Re: Just as I was nodding off...
Once again, I thought it was just me... My imagination goes wild on what possibly could be causing those sensations.
Since moving down South, I imagine a big brown Cock Roach dancing on my nose. Ugh, awful!!
I'm all for a little windshield wiper, push button operated....

Re: Just as I was nodding off...
seems like i read a post which suggested briskly rubbing the skin around your nose...before putting on the mask. somehow that keeps an itch from popping up. worth a try.

Re: Just as I was nodding off...
I read the same post in the Spring. Before putting on my mask, I rub my nose and face (where my FF mask will sit) for a 1/2 minute or so. I never (well maybe once or twice in 6 months) have an itch afterwards that makes me want to take off my mask. Give it a try - it may work for you.seems like i read a post which suggested briskly rubbing the skin around your nose...before putting on the mask. somehow that keeps an itch from popping up. worth a try.

Oh yes, I can relate! I'm going to try rubbing my face before putting the mask on, as several have suggested.
Some people slide unsharpened pencils (the eraser end) or popsicle sticks under the mask to scratch the itch.

Occasionally on science programs and the like you see equipment used in laboratories in which highly infectious or genetically modified organisms are studied. There is always some kind of tank with big gauntlet gloves attached to holes in the side. The the scientists slip their hands into the gloves when they need to work on the dangerous experiment inside the tank. CPAP masks need a little rubber finger mitten we can use to scratch our noses when necessary.

Start lobbying guys
I nearly got the cheese grater out last night, just on the edge of slumberiseing and ...
The funny thing is, I tried to scratch it in my half asleep mode, then the mask was in the way

Great Idea! However, the design of the "little rubber finger mitten" would have to be just right. Otherwise it could easily turn into a nose tickler and, at least for me, a nose tickle would be just as bothersome as a nose itch.CPAP masks need a little rubber finger mitten we can use to scratch our noses when necessary.

Very smooth narrow (diameter) plastic chopstick should do the trick for me...had one of those right above lip last night...drove me nuts, wiggling upper lip almost worked, kept in up off & on as it recurred, finally went away. Thank goodness that's the first time...will get out the chopstick and put on night stand tonight.
