I forgot my mask on my trip
got all packed - machine, humidifier, hose and when I got to the hotel - no mask. Crap! I was worried about 2 nights w/o my friend, but I did manage to survive I guess. a bit tired after night 2 w/o but now am safely home with everything and looking forward to tonight's beautiful sleep.

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
this might help. I have a page printed on dayglo yellow paper sitting in my ResMed travel case that lists the extra things I need to pack in addition to the blower & humidifier: mask & both cushions & headgear, hose, power cord, surge protector, power outage alarm, hose snuggy, non-slip pad for machine, bottle of water, vinegar & 7th Generation soap for cleaning. I'm so freaked about forgetting my mask or breaking its plastic shell that I take my former pillow mask too. I get all but the surge protector & liquids in my travel case, rest goes in makeup case. I haven't tried to fly with this stuff so it's just for conventions & in case of emergency situations (went to ER & they wouldn't release me, so a relative had to pack my stuff and this list helped as I was angry & upset that I hadda stay in the hospital and not thinking straight).

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
yes, good idea about a list - I'm going on a longer trip that involves air travel in January. I may just pack my extra mask and hose in the cpap case now so I know it is there and just have to pop in the machine/humidifer/cord.

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
I keep a mask and power cord in the suitcase that I normally check; I always have a spare when I travel. I also keep a spare car and house key in my CPAP bag -- my luggage tags have my office address and work cell phone number on them.

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
As a frequent traveler for work, I bought a second machine and mask that I keep in my suitcase at all times, ready for the road (or air travel, as the case may be). Before I made that purchase, packing was a chore and since I always forget something when packing, I wanted to make sure it was an item of clothing rather than something for cpap.
Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
I also bought a second machine and have a bag packed with that machine, a mask, a hose, an extension cord and any other incidentals I need for cpap.
I packed the bag when I had lots of time to be sure I didn't forget anything. If I travel or had to go to hospital or just go away, unexpectedly, even for a night or more, I have it all ready to go.
Makes me feel better.

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
Does anyone have experience with the Provent nostril valves?
Seems like something to keep as a backup.
Plus use a chin strap and somehow sleep face down without rebreathing CO2 (face down to help tongue/whatever stay out of air passage).

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
I know how that goes. I was in Washington DC for 5 days in October without my mask. After day 2, I was absolutely miserable.brucelegs wrote:got all packed - machine, humidifier, hose and when I got to the hotel - no mask. Crap! Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
Good idea, I can't get a backup yet, but I am going to go now and pack one of my backup nasal masks and hose in my carrying case. I am also scared that I will forget the brick for my Respironics unit....I guess one argument for a unit that has it integrated into the machine and built in cord.Hawthorne wrote:I also bought a second machine and have a bag packed with that machine, a mask, a hose, an extension cord and any other incidentals I need for cpap.

Going on a cruise in January. I will have to check and recheck to make sure I have everything! I like the idea of a list by the tank!

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
This is my DIY for having no mask. First you need any kind of 16 ounce water bottle. Next, duct tape (of course ). You cut the plastic bottle to the shape of your nose. Use the duct tape, or foam/rubber if you have any available to cushion your face. Plug the cpap tube to the bottle top. Use the duct tape to attach the gizmo to your face. A sock, or any other paper or fabric keeps your face and hair from the tape. This actually works, good night and God bless!
Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
Went on a cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Unpacked on the ship and couldnt find my power cord. Was able to borrow one from my sister-in-law who brought her cpap but forgot her mask. At the end of the cruise we were packing and i found my power cord under the bed. Apparently it had fallen out of the case when i was unpacking

Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
Can't tell if you are kidding or not. Making a "There, I Fixed It" quality DIY mask is possible, but a calibrated CO2 washout vent (the holes in the mask or mask elbow) are missing from your recipe, which could lead to CO2 poisoning.Martdog99 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 09, 2018 8:45 amThis is my DIY for having no mask. Re: I forgot my mask on my trip
I got a mask shipped same day with Amazon Prime when I was having leak issues with my other one. That's probably what I would do in that situation.
