I have been OUTRAGEOUSLY busy, you guys - getting 5 kids back to school - treating allergies still, I'm on a caveman diet now (ostrich, buffalo, eggplant, squash, etc), though I'm horrible at it, very hard to stick to. My ENT who is treating the allergies and who did my septum surgery, is now talking oral surgery as in tongue reduction and I think UPPP. I think that's considered exciting and/or controversial or worse in these parts - I have a lot of searching to do. I don't know what to think of it. I have a neurologist who is the official sleep apnea treater, I'll be coordinating this with him of course, seeing what he thinks. I do like my ENT and I think he knows what he's doing. Still, scary. I'll at least try to let you all know how it shakes out.
Must sleep - ah, sleep.
hi - trying to come back

lol, me neither! I don't even know that I got what he was talking about, we didn't discuss details - it's not happening any time soon, whatever it is (I don't think)
I'm looking at this link right now - seems sort of applicable ::still reading myself::: http://www.aafp.org/afp/991115ap/2279.html

momexp,
There's an awful lot of reading in the link I'm going to provide, but those are awfully serious surgeries with "no turning back" that the ENT is suggesting for you. I don't care how good he is or how much faith you have in his judgment and skill, you might want to read a LOT about UPPP before you agree to that.
In the link below, scroll down to the bottom and read EVERYTHING you can in those "UPPP MMA" topics. The poster nicknamed Billinseattle has had just about every surgery in the book. He's an extremely intelligent man who researched them all thoroughly. I think he'd be the first to tell you to avoid UPPP.
After you get through all those topics and have a better idea why a person should probably NOT have UPPP surgery, then go back up to the top of the page and immerse yourself in the topics about Pillar Procedure and TAP II used together. Those might very well achieve the same effect the doctor is looking for, and are reversible if need be. Tongue reduction and UPPP are not reversible.
Good luck!!
