MissAmethyst2U...I'm so glad the doctors found out you had sleep apnea at such a young age...can you imagine if they didn't bother to check because of your age...you might have went for years and always wondered what was wrong...I'm glad you are doing so well with it.
With the fleece hose covers you will still get rainout. I did. With the Aussie Heated Hose that rested gal recommended, you will never have rainout again.
Thanks guest...good to know this. I should just take the money and order myself a heated one.

Mmmmm.....well, maybe a little off topic (says the 63 year old lady in her flannel jammies and Sponge Bob slippers)

This is a great conversation, however, and if you take it elsewhere, be sure and let me know. k?

Miss A, all my kids are older than you. You do sound wise to the ways of watching out for yourself and your health. I applaud you.

I've liked my C-Pap from the beginning too. Actually they started me out with an Auto Spirit, and I really liked that. Had to get used to the one pressure(8). Even with my dry mouth and throat, which is getting worse, I still do enjoy strapping on my mask at night. The sound is soothing, barely a sound at all.

When it was time to get my own machine, my DME said that the insurance wouldn't pay for the AutoSpirit. I didn't know. I just took what was given to me. But I'm happy. AND........I'll be 64 in two days, so there ya go. On thread at the last sentence.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for not responding sooner. I've been very busy. I'm determined to get this issue resolved, one way or another.

Thanks for all your tips on the masks. I'm feeling better already, back to being my old self of 73, running all over the place and keeping busy. Hang in there, life can be loads of fun, even at 73 and my hubby is 75.

Guess I need to jump in and get started on this posting thing, and since this one looks pretty easy I'll give it a shot.

I hit 50 this summer. To celebrate, I decided I wanted to do something active. So when we took a group of teens to a Christian camp in NC this summer, I participated in a few of the activities: slid down a 300 ft Super Slide into a small pool, stepped off into nothing from the 45 ft high land trolly platform, jumped off a 20ft platform into the lake, hiked a mountain trail to the "4th Falls", swam in the base of the fall, climbed up the mountain side, and did the Giant Swing--they strap you into a harness, haul you up backwards to 65ft and you free fall towards the ground-- screaming all the way It was fun.

My birthday is July 4, so when I got married I told my husband that I was 10 years old before I realized the country was NOT celebrating MY birthday. Funny thing is--he believed me.

Been on CPAP for 13 months.

Born Tired,

You may have been born tired, but you've certainly come a long way. Sounds like you're now enjoying life as it was meant to be enjoyed. 50 years young and having the time of your life. And LOL about thinking the world was celebrating your birthday. It took me till almost high school to stop believing that I was so special as my parents told me my whole life. They had me convinced that I was the most wonderful girl that was ever born. Thank goodness I finally realized it was an ego and self-esteem booster they were infusing me with before my head couldn't fit through the doors of the school.

Lori,
Guess I'd better clarify--when I told my husband I had believed the country was celebrating my birthday, I was only teasing him--at least I think I was only teasing.
Leaving tomorrow to go celebrate our 25th. Back in a few days.

Esther,

I'm sorry to say, my story was true...I wasn't kidding.

Have a very happy anniversary celebration. A quarter-century married to the same person is nothing to sneeze at, although that's all I've been doing since yesterday with this horrible head cold. Have a wonderful time.

macoil and klady are older than I am. I'm a cool 72. You young'uns are lucky to have been diagnosed young. Wish I was diagnosed at 40. (was cpap around then????)

Hi, Esther. Glad you dropped in to make yourself known. I guess you won't be reading this for a few, as you're probably out celebrating with hubby.

I always knew there must be more to July 4 than just celebrating our country. haha

You are a very active lady! I'd be out cold before I took the first step. God hasn't blessed me with physical courage. haha Will be looking for your posts around the site. Nita

Lori,
Hope your cold is better. Those things can make you miserable!
My husband and I did have a very nice time. Went to Ocean Point, ME. Ate lots of great seafood, did a little biking, looked in the shops at Boothbay Harbor, and had fun just being together. Only problem was that the fog rolled in about 30 mins before we arrived and stayed the whole time we did. We were not able to see the ocean beyond just a few feet but got lots of great pix of fog.
I noticed in another post that you've got a keeper husband too. That's great, and I hope you have a wonder 25th anniversary celebration too!

Hi Nita,
I must admit that I was scared silly for a few of those things but was determined to do them. Something about having a group of teens yelling "You can do it. Don't look down--just jump!" makes you feel like you can't back out. Besides, once you've climbed up, you aren't allowed to climb back down the ladder.

Esther,

I'm so glad, but for the fog, you had a nice anniversary celebration. Lobster sounds just perfect to me.

Just made plans for October 24-26 to spend a couple of nights at Trump's Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Do a little gambling, see a show, good restaurants and the wonderful boardwalk to stroll on. I'm really looking forward to it.

Happy Anniversary again.
