sleeping without cpap
Hello, was wondering whats the best way to sleep without a cpap of any kind for a week or two.Read some ideas on positional sleeping and using tennisball to make myself sleep on my side.I sleep almost always on my back but don't know if my numbers are better on my side but will try it out.My oxygen numbers did not look too bad on the sleep study with or without therapy, have an oximeter that I will play with during this time to see how the numbers look.I have raised the bed and placed lots of pillows to see if that will require me to sleep on my side to start with. The break from cpap is for a medical thing and just really started cpap recently(month). Any ideas, thoughts, direction, would be greatly appreciated.

well you will be risking loss of therapy
with the wet and cold winter weather approaching I expect there will be a increase in the amount of potholes needing repair and that you will need to be at the top of your game

Yeah its not very therapeutic but its orders from the same doc who told me I had osa and to get tested . I like to think I'm smoothing out the rough spots one piece of earth at a time.Uncle_Bob wrote:well you will be risking loss of therapy

Are you having some kind of ear, nose or throat surgery where you won't be able to use your machine? Yes, I'm nosey.
Best of luck. I've never tried sleeping without it (too scared), but I've heard sitting up is the best, possibly only, way.

why yes it is for a throat (Barrett's esophagus ablation) and interestingly the doc said that cpap is good for it just not in the first few weeks after the treatments.Mayo clinic seems to think this way of treatment is working pretty good(in general) so im all in to getting away from the annual endoscopic examinations and zapping out the ugly cells.tattooyu wrote:Are you having some kind of ear, nose or throat surgery where you won't be able to use your machine? There are lots of sources for "less-expensive" options........Goodwill stores, Salvation Army, thrift stores, second-hand stores, newspaper ads, yard sales (a little less likely this time of year), auctions, coworkers, relatives, friends, etc..potholerepairman wrote:Thanks , oddly a recliner is something I don't own, not even a reclining sofa. For a few week period buying one now is not in the cards but have been looking at recliners for about 6 years ,now that procratinating.Wulfman wrote:

You can rent furniture of all kinds as long as you're in a place with such rental stores. Look in the yellow pgs or call around.

Re: sleeping without cpap
thanks everyone it seems the recliner is the first choice but the more I'm thinking about it there must be a recliner phobia of some kind.Had sofas in the past with recliners for many years and never used em but kept buying the kind with recliners till my last set.Thinking now that I don't like the idea of not sleeping in a bed of all things.I can sleep pretty comfortably with a ff mask , nasal pillow mask, scotch tape, painters tape, surgical tape, chinstraps, air blowing in my nose or mouth, , head of bed elevated,or tennis ball duct taped to the back of a shirt, but the thought of sleeping in a recliner puts me off.I think elevating the headboard side of the bed so high , ropes were needed to stay in postion would be a more soothing thought.Sound illogical even to the one typing this.So some time in the distant future will deal with that and get a recliner but not till next football season most likely. On a side note the buckwheat pillow was comfortable as all get-out and the tennis ball trick seemed to keep me sleeping on my side.
