Sigh...have been changing it around with numbers that are a huge range of difference.

I was on pressure 12..and the mask made so much noise, I put it down to 11. Still making noise. I tried to see a pattern in the numbers on the readout the next day, and it's getting a little confusing. I experiemented with 11.8, 11.6, 12.4. But, anyway last night's numbers (pressure 11)

Leak 2.08

AHI 45.1 (!!)
AI 1.3 (pretty darn acceptable, really...just don't like the hypopnea #'s
HI 43.8 why so darned high???

So you were titrated at 12? When you were at 12, what was your AHI? Were hypopneas always the main problem?

Is that one night's worth of data? A week? A month?

My study titrated me at 8 *shrug* Go figure LOL He put it on automatic for a while, then set it to 12. Mask just makes too much noise at this pressure. The numbers are always all over the place, but hypopneas are the main thing that are high...

The numbers for the month are AHI 21.3 and apneas 2.1. Pretty good I guess, but I wish it were lower...

When you look at your PSG results, what was your AHI at the titrated pressure of 8?

Instead of using it in straight CPAP mode at 12 or 11, have you tried using it in auto mode with a range from 8-12 for a solid two weeks?

Have you tried straight CPAP at 11 for two weeks, then 10 for 2 weeks, then 9, etc.?

It would be interesting to see what your stats are in auto mode vs. what they are in straight CPAP at each pressure. But you'd need to give it a couple weeks at each level to get a good average.

When he had you on auto for a while, what was the pressure range the machine was set for? When it was in auto mode, did it seem to get loud and then stay loud?

Is the ComfortFull Full Face Mask the only mask you've used?

Barb,

There is something to be said when everyone tells you not to judge things too quickly. I thought I knew better and wrote auto off. After being on straight cpap and getting great results, the lab rat in me decided to try auto for a short period and got awful results. After a few nights, went immediately back to cpap. Well, when my numbers still weren't good and I didn't feel well, everyone told me it could be from other outside reasons that I wasn't feeling well and getting higher AHI's, and that I should AT LEAST give the auto settings at one specific range a week, if not more, and see how things go.

Well, I went back to auto and my AHI's are just as good, if not better, than on cpap now. I love being on auto because most of my night, the pressure stays at 8 when I used to be at straight 10. Less noise in the mask, less problems with less pressure. I should have listened to everyone, but I knew better.

Seriously don't give up on your setting too quickly. And don't keep changing them every few nights because the numbers weren't what you'd hoped for. Give it at least a week, if not longer. Like they told me, outside reasons can cause the results you're getting and when they resolve, so might your numbers. Take it from someone who learned the hard way.
