Questions about Everest 3 as a travel / camping CPAP

Post by wahooker » Tue Nov 03, 2009 6:57 am

I've been using a Respironics Remstar for a few years at home, and it's been fine.

It looks like I will have some excess $ in my Medical reimbursement acct at the end of the year, and was thinking about getting a Everest 3 as a travel / Camping CPAP.

Anyone have feedback, opinions on the Everest 3? How durable is it? How well does the battery last? (My pressure is usually about 18, so I know that's gonna be a pretty heavy drain on any battery.

I've already requested my medical records from the Sleep doctor who originally prescribed my CPAP, in hopes that my family doctor will be willing to prescribe something for me based on the older records, without forcing me to have another $1000 sleep study.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I have the Everest 2 and love it. I get two 6-6 1/2 hour nights from one charge, which is just right for me. I use a pressure of 10. There is no EPR or c-flex which may be an issue for you at such a high pressure. There are no bells or whistles on the Everest. It is a bit noisier than other machines, I find it to be not louder but a different pitch, which may be bothersome to some. The heated humidifier works great for me. At your pressure you would get 1 night from a charge. You might be better off with another machine, another apap maybe, and a battery pack made for that machine. Actually at your pressure I would be looking for a bi-level machine.
