Been on cpap for a year next month and just had one of the worst days since starting. Dog tired, ratty, miserable - fought with the wife etc etc. Yet stats were reasonable; leakage, 0.46; AI 0.3 ; AHI 2.8. Pulse oximeter showed no major desats or erratic pulse.

Re: What's Going On?
Maybe you are catching a flu bug or a cold.
What you are experiencing may or may not be related to sleep apnea. It will take a few days to see.
If it were me, I would make a note of today and how differently I felt from past experience and montior closely for the next week or so.

You left out how much sleep you actually got. (Including previous nights......lack of sleep and related complications/symptoms can have an accumulative or delayed effects)JockLitt wrote:Been on cpap for a year next month and just had one of the worst days since starting. Re: What's Going On?
I'm much more of a newbie than you, but I experienced two days about a month into treatment where my symptoms seemed to be returning. Because the daytime sleepiness increased dramatically on day 2 I was literally terrified. After discussion with a resource and some soul-searching I relaxed into the program and happily my daytime well-being returned the following day. (Whew!)
My AHI definitely did not correlate with the bad days, although I did have a "7" a few days earlier. So, I agree with everything that has already been posted. The cause could be latent, not the night immediately before. Something else could be going on. Unusual activities could also have increased your sleep needs. In my case I had recently returned to work after vacation--the first time after settling into CPAP, so I was now getting up earlier in the morning and commuting, let alone the stress many of us face at work. It could have been that adjustment.
Don't panic about one bad night. As Hawthorne suggested, watch yourself for the next few days or a week. If there really is a sustained shift, seek help.

Re: What's Going On?
As I understand it your machine should show a leak of under .40 or the data may be faulty. I'd work on the leak abit.
