Try setting the damn thing in CPAP mode at a usable pressure and see what happens.

Did you buy it "brand new" or had it had some use before you got it? Is it still under warranty? (2-yrs. or less)

I don't think there's much anyone can do to help, but I appreciate the comments.

I need to contact the mfg about a return for inspection. It's a brand new machine purchased last week through cpap.com - I'd kind of like it to work as well as my original. I bought it to be my new primary machine, so that I could use my original exclusively for travel.

cpap.com is not Sears, so I can't just send it to them for a replacement.

I imagine it would work on a straight pressure setting, but that's not what I paid for.

I'm aware of that.......but it may (or may not) expose any quirks when running in single pressure. Something is causing your apparent runaway pressures. If you were to set it at something like 10 cm. and it acted like it was blowing more than that or making more noise, that would be a tip-off. Or, you might be able to hear if it's leaking somewhere. In APAP mode, an Auto will increase pressure to compensate for leaks......in CPAP mode it will also compensate for leaks, but will only put out as much pressure as the CPAP is set for.......not run up to the max pressure (20 cm.).

My guess is there is an "AutoRamp" setting that you will have to get into the menu to turn off. Just another WAG using what little info has been provided.
