Hey Folks,
I've got a UMFF and have been able to get a decent but inconsistent seal with it. My major problem with this mask is that it vents upwards. When I sleep on my side, I throw my arm under the pillow and out. As a result, the air blows right on it and wakes me. In addition, side sleeping tends to disrupt the seal. This also wakes me up and I have to carefully lay my head into the pillow. So I'm thinking it might want to try the Ultra Mirage II Nasal. I'd like to know how it vents. Is it straight out? Down? Or up?
Thanks!
Mark

Re: Question for Ultra Mirage II users
I alternate between a Profile Lite Gel Nasal and the Ultra Mirage Full Face - I find the UMFF more comfortable and it doesn't leak as much as the PLGN, so I find myself using the UMFF more often and sometimes even changing to the UMFF on PLGN nites.
Re: Question for Ultra Mirage II users
Hi--I've used an ultra mirage II for years. It has a swivel elbow that directs the air in the direction of the tube. Since it swivels: the air direction varies---if you have the hose coming over your head the air flow will be directed up. I have the hose running from the CPAP on the floor over my chest---no problem. It is a very good mask as it works well for me. Now I have tried the mirage activa which I like alot----very comfortable to wear and it also has a swivel elbow that connects to the hose.
Re: Question for Ultra Mirage II users
Thanks for clearing that up. I called cpap.com earlier and the lady told me it vented down. I decided to try the Mirage Activa as it appears to vent outward. This is ideal for me as I sleep on my back or my right side. The airstream won't bother me or my wife. Hopefully, the bridge of my nose will tolerate it well.rbtgjns wrote:Hi--I've used an ultra mirage II for years. It has a swivel elbow that directs the air in the direction of the tube. Re: Question for Ultra Mirage II users
Activa can still press against nose bridge, but will do so much less than Quattro or Comfort Gel FF masks, from my experience. Activa is a great mask if you're having leakage issues with others and if you're not a mouth breather.

Re: Question for Ultra Mirage II users
The bridge of my nose tolerated the UMFF pretty well. In fact, most Resmed masks seem to be better shaped for the bridge of my nose. I'm not a mouth breather but I am a mouth leaker, so I will have to resume taping and/or chin strap use.GaryG wrote:Activa can still press against nose bridge, but will do so much less than Quattro or Comfort Gel FF masks, from my experience.
