BiPap following cataract surgery

Post by DerHerzog » Tue Oct 27, 2009 10:33 pm

Have any other users had cataract surgery and continued BiPAP/CPAP use in the period soon after surgery??
I will soon have cataract surgery on my right eye, and I have some concern that my nasal mask (ResMed Activa) or my chin strap may slide onto my eye and injure the incision. My ophthalmologist sort of advises stopping use of my machine for a week or so, but I am concerned that my sleep quality will be so poor that I will be miserable. Note that the doctor was not positive about stopping, just skeptical.

More likely the concern was about mask leaks around the eyes drying out the eyes and slowing healing. I would think it highly unlikely a mask strap would shift enough to cover the eye. It would have to be a very poor fit of the mask.
