Quick question for those in Ontario, Canada:
Will the ADP program pay for any masks (or other accessories) in between the five years you need to wait before they would pay for any part of a new machine?
My mask is now 8 months old. I'm considering whether to replace it. If ADP has a rule that they'll pay for a new mask every year (for example), I'll wait until the year is up.
When I look on the ADP site, I find info about purchasing a complete setup only at 5-year intervals -- nothing about replacing any parts before 5 years are up.
I'm on my own with my costs -- no extended health care.
So if ADP doesn't cover anything but the initial purchase and new machines at 5-year intervals (I know there are conditions you have to meet, it isn't automatic) -- what would you do in my shoes? How often would you replace your hose and mask?
Many thanks, MG
Ontario: will ADP cover a new MASK only?
Re: Ontario: will ADP cover a new MASK only?
I am in Ontario and I don't believe that ADP will cover new masks at all after the initial setup. I don't even know that they cover masks for the intial setup. I have an Extended health plan and I believe they paid for the mask in my intital setup. I have been on cpap for 7 years so my info may not be accurate. You could ask your Provider.
I have bought masks since I started of course, and had to claim them on my Extended Health plan (which covered a percentage).
I bought 1 mask outright from my provider, and had to pay almost $300 and that was not much more than buying replacement parts.
Then I found this forum and CPAP.COM! Since then I have bought all my masks, masks parts and other cpap accessories from CPAP.COM.
Then CPAPAUCTION.COM came along (thanks to CPAP.COM)! I have had some really good deals on unused masks there!
That's what I would suggest to you. Either go with CPAP. COM or CAPAPAUCTION.COM.
If you want to bid on CPAPAUCTION.COM, be sure to ask the seller if they will ship to Canada VIA THE POSTAL SERVICE. Many don't say that they will (some do). If you ask, most will. You want to be sure they ship via the POSTAL SERVICE and not a COURIER. Couriers will charge a brokerage fee.
