I have enjoyed reading about your trials and tribulation. Many of them have been a great help to me. I have been using my ResMed S8 Escape II with my Swift Nasal Pillow System for 4 nights now. The first night was great and I felt like I was on my way. The 2nd night wasn't too bad, but last night was horrible. I didn't sleep well and kept waking up with the pillows out of my nose. I am take RLS meds also, starting on Thursday night when my machine was delivered. I finally turned off the machine and took it off around 3AM, so that I could get a little bit of sleep.
I think that the major problem is that I am turning over on my side when I get sleepy and my mouth comes open. Ordered a chin strap this morning. Hope that helps.
Would it be OK to take a Tylenol PM when I got to bed to help me relax. Or is this dangerous with taking the RLS meds?
Thanks for your help.

Hi SusanCarol & WELCOME to the board. We're glad you found us.
If the chinstrap doesn't work, you may have to consider taping your mouth. Just do a search - you'll find lots of threads about that topic. As far as Tylenol PM, many of us used something for sleep the first few days of CPAP. But, as far as asking if it's safe to take with your RLS med - oh, child! You need to ask your doctor or a pharmacist that question. I wouldn't trust any advice like that from someone on the internet you don't know. Not even if you get it from me!!!
Again, welcome!

Re: New to Cpap Machine & Pillows
a nose only type mask may be easier for a new user to get used to and may use the nasal pillows type later
if you usually mouthbreathe all the time, then a full face type mask seems best
some make their own chinstrap from pantyhose

Echoing ....
And double checking the side effects listed with the prescription you received or the manuf. website. Most pharmacists are very good at questions like this.millich wrote:Hi SusanCarol & WELCOME to the board. We're glad you found us.

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?
