Changing pressure again

Post by moombeam » Fri Oct 23, 2009 11:52 am

I have been on CPAP since June of 2008 have changed my pressures
several times. Started with pressure setting of 4-20 Not workable
Slowly increments of .5. I move my pressure up 6 and lower max to 10
After setting min to 6 and the max to 10 I found some
improvement in the AHI's But not satisfactory for me and the way I felt.
There were several posts here that indicated I could set it even higher
even tho my tritrated pressure was 6
Post : on the length of time it took to reach proper pressure to stop an Apnea
I set min and max within a 4 pt span range to catch Apneas
Such as 6 min 10 max
Setting for EPR got changed also canned the Aflex went to Cflex only; at
setting of 1 so that the pressure didn't lose much pressure on the exhale.

During this process I have software I am tracking my progress more improvement Looking pretty good feeling better AHI's are still to high and I want to feel optimum better Back to this forum and here is this post on clusters.
Convinces me to change pressure again I change to min 7.5 max11
More improved therapy
By July I have the pressure setting of 8 min 13 max and feeling like I have
it made. AHI's anywhere from 0.04 to 2.2 But one post keeps bumping into
my mind could be better . More rem sleep, more memory, I could surely use
Pressure up to 8.5 last night couldn't hurt all pressures raises have shown
good improvement I will give it a week and we will see. Last night AHI 0.04
Feel just fine .
I have noticed through this process that I feel much better with AHI's
1.and under.

I dont know if this applys to you but if a new user uses the ramp to give a lower starting pressure, they can decide that their pressure setting isnt high enough
the cure is to not use ramp and to so start at normal pressure

You done GOOD. Congrats. I started like you with a range of 4 - 20. I'm now at 8 (tried higher pressures but 8 is my sweet spot with avg weekly AHI = 0.4 and me feeling great after a restful night's sleep).
