First Night W/ Mirage Liberty--Questions ?

Post by DannyPh » Thu Oct 22, 2009 9:45 am

Last night was my First Night using the Mirage Liberty FF Mask. I have been using the Swift II Nasal pillows since the beginning of Therapy but due to congestion during the winter months I Resorted to a FF mask. Last night went Extremely Well----Good Seal and No Leaks at all. I got up at Four AM for the Normal Bathroom Break and when I put the Mask back on is when the Problems began. Shortly after re-masking I noticed that it seemed like there was a blockage in the Air Flow ( Strong Resistance ) so I removed the Nasal Pillows from the Nares and re-inserted them. Still had the same feeling so I turned the HH up to two from one and then the Congestion started. It was like a wet sticky congestion--Not Dry congestion so I turned the HH back down to One. Things seemed to Improve some then. The use of the Mirage Liberty is all new to me but my Take on the Problem is that Maybe I tightened the Straps too Tight on returning from the Bathroom causing the Pillows to colapse and restrict the Air flow But Over All I had a very good Night with the Liberty. I will see how tonight goes. My Question is Has anyone else has a similiar problem as this ? Thank You.

I haven't had any issues with blocked air flow. But I did want to comment that when I get up to use the restroom I do not remove the mask. I disconnect the hose. That way I don't need to readjust anything--just hook it back up again and I'm good to go.

Good luck!!

With the Liberty, I can't use the humidifier. When it is set for 2 or higher it will cause me to get more congestion like you are having. Also feels like my nose is dripping also. The best effect that I have is when the humidifier is to set to 0 making it act as a pass thru. Like the other person, it is better to detach from the hose with the quick release rather than taking the mask off. Off course you might scare your dogs or family members if they meet you mask on when making the trip to the loo.
