Hard Case for CPAP

Post by Lindsay » Mon Sep 12, 2005 4:11 pm

I travel a lot (plane) and would like to "check" my CPAP and accessories. I assume a hard case is needed. Any suggestions on where I could order one from.
Thanks.

I have bought one on e-bay for 49.95 and it is bullet proof.

I do not think that the airlines are responsible for lost DME though.

Just type in cpap and scroll and you should see some.

The airlines will not insure the contents if it's not clothes. That said, I do this all the time and I use a hardside Samsonite suitcase. The kind the goriilas on the TV commercials sling around and can't destroy. The same ones that handle my luggage when I travel. I pack clothes all around it packed in it's own travel bag from Resmed. Never had a problem and I travel all the time.

hard case for cpap

I have been on two cruises this summer and on each I carried my resmed in the shoulder bag. I carried distilled water in 10 oz. plastic bottles in my regular luggage. I put the bag thru inspection conveyor and took it off and placed it back on my shoulder with no one else putting their hands on it. It was never out of my hands or sight.
No problems

Thanks for suggestions. I have a 80# service dog (hearing) to handle also, so, need to get this "checked in".

I didnt see any mention of a dog ??? Try to eliminate the carrying of your pocket book. There is a lot of room in the cpap bag for a wallet and tickets etc. Youmight try tocarry the cpap over your shoulder with the big pocket book in your checked in luggage. I am happy knowing my cpap is arriving without rough handlers messing up my vital item. Hope you can work it out Lindsay.

I'd never check my xPAP equipment! I've had too many flights where my luggage arrived anywhere from hours later (not a problem) to as many as 5 days later (big problem)!

OTOH, I don't travel with a service dog. If I did I might be making a different decision.
