when to change nasal pillows on a Liberty mask?

Post by angela6 » Mon Oct 19, 2009 10:22 am

Do nasal pillows on the Liberty mask wear out/stop working effectively after three months?

I have used my Liberty mask on my Respironic M series auto machine for three months. My AHI is till low (usually under 1) but I have noticed that my leak line is more jagged going up and down and average leaks are now 42 or 45 rather than the 35 or 37 I used to have. According to Encore Viewer I am seeing more FL, VS and Hypopneas than I did a week ago.

I use my apap in auto mode of 8cm-15cm and used it in cpap mode for one week at 9 cm to see if the number of FL, VS and hypopneas would go down, and that didnt work. I clean the pillows and cushion every other day and the leak line is no better on the day I wash the pillows and cushion.

Is it time for new nasal pillows?

Thank you

It may be time to replace them. BUT FIRST;
wash well and rinse well(I use dawn dishwashing liquid)
soak in a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 2 parts water for 15mins, rinse very very well.
This should remove any left over oil or soap residues.
I find this helps my cushions and pillows to seal quite well again.

hmmmppppfffff,,,

Why not just replace them with the ones I sent to you. Ya know, that was the whole purpose of sending them.

also, I found that my liberty would leak alot... when was the last time you washed the headgear? I soaked mine in a mild soapy solution for about 1 hour, dried and it was like a new mask ... who woulda thought?
