Gel stuff for sore noses??

Post by modistee » Thu Oct 08, 2009 9:24 am

I remember seeing somewhere in a post that there is a gel stuff to put in your nose to prevent having a sore nose from the nasal pillows.... I can't find that post could someone please repost that here??? My nose is getting a little sore from the nasal pillows. Starting to feel like it does when I have a bad cold and runny nose. Thanks so much.

Hi, Modistee.

Two options for you: Ayr Gel or Lansinoh. Both can be found in most pharmacies. Lansinoh is a lanolin salve made for nursing moms with chapped nipples, but it works great for us xPAPers. Neither product will harm your mask's cushion. (Don't ever use anything petroleum based, like Vaseline.)

Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy. ;))

PR S1 ASV 950, DreamWear mask, F&P 150 humidifier, O2 @ 2L.

I have no experience with Ayr Gel, but the Lansinoh will also give you a better seal...with less tightening of the mask.

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

Ayr Gel is very effective in reducing nose irritation issues. Didn't help me with seal when I was experimenting with nasal and Liberty masks.
