Alarms-who needs 'em?
Alarms-who needs 'em?
The R/T that set up my Bipap told me that she disabled all of the alarms. She said that it was her experience that the alarms were more of a nuisance to a person trying to sleep than they were helpful. Since my own experience is very limited (one month now) I wanted to ask here what your varying experiences were concerning alarms on your _PAP machines.

Re: Alarms-who needs 'em?
Hi ProudDad
I guess that different people will have different experiences regarding alarms.
My machine does not have an alarm, but my oximeter does. When I use it for a nap, and the alarm goes off (not often), I wake up, breathe until my SpO2 goes back to normal, then usually go back to sleep. But I understand that some people would have difficulty in going back to sleep.
My suggestion is that you learn how to set the alarms yourself, and try sleeping with them on and with them off. Only that way will you know what is best for you.
cheers

Re: Alarms-who needs 'em?
I have an alarm setting for my CPAP machine. It worked great, but my wife didn't like getting woken up, so I had to shut it off.ProudDad wrote:The R/T that set up my Bipap told me that she disabled all of the alarms. I disabled all the alarms when I started my therapy. I didn't want it waking me up if I was sound asleep. The air is still blowing and that's the way I want it.
Your RT was pretty thoughtful, in my opinion.
