How much leakage is acceptable?

Post by rubymom » Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:04 pm

OK, I've hesitated to ask this cause I should be able to figure it out myself, but I can't so I will. I have the Liberty mask and a Bi-Pap machine. My pressure averages between 11 and 14. Can anybody tell me what is the leak rate I should be striving for?

Thanks!

At 12 cm of pressure something around 40 L/min would be the intentional vent rate. When you use varying pressures the intentional vent rate will also vary a bit.

What is your leak rate?

My leaks are running around 46-48. My AHI's are below 2.0.

Do you have a breakdown of AI vs HI? Just curious.

The ideal leak rate for your mask at your pressures is 41-44. Many never get a perfect leak number. So, your leak is in an acceptable range.
