Hi folks,
I am glad I found this site. I have had my CPAP machine for two days and it hasn't been fun. I can't seem to sleep with it. The second night was more comfortable than the first but I got less sleep because I got up.
From reading here, I see my plight is not all that uncommon so I will hang in there and keep at it.
I couldn't find the mask I am using on the drop down list....it is a resmed swift LT (nasal pillows)
The first night it seemed really hard to blow out through my nostrils and I couldn't get comfortable. I used the mask for about 4 hours. Last night, it was only 3.
I had the ramp on at first but felt like I was starving for air so I turned it off.
So the journey begins. I will be guided by those that have gone before.
Tom

Welcome... if you can persuade your DME (Healthcare place where you got your machine) to trade it for an Elite II, you should try.
The difference between the two is that with the Escape there is no data if you have any problems either now or down the road... with an Elite, there is data available.

welcome
you are doing OK for a new user, be patient and have positive thoughts
sore nostrils are to be expected for a while and many new users do better without using the ramp at all

As I understand, the ramp will help you breathe better at the beginning of your night because you are not subjected to the full pressure of your machine. I recommend using it until you can stand the machine's pressure without it. Wow, if you are only getting up one time, that is great! I went from 4-5 times to one time immediately and that is why I am finally able to dream again and feel rested when I wake up in the mornings. I am only a month ahead of you but I strongly recommend sticking with it. In the meantime, spend some time examining and tweaking each nights results. You have to play around with this-and-that until you get things right. If there is an easier way, I still haven't found it. Good luck.
