viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45011&st=0&sk=t&sd= ... +hypopneas

viewtopic/t44325/ResMed-vs-Respironics- ... thing.html

All I can come up with at the spur of the moment. Have had a stomach bug and don't feel my best.

Short version is that you have to determine how critical those hypopneas are for you as an individual. I wouldn't panic over them especially since you are reporting feeling good. Everyone is different. I need an overall AHI of less than 3 to feel good. When I have an AHI of 5-9, I feel pretty much like I did precpap days. But then 80% of my events are always Apneas.

Look closely at those Hypopneas on the graph... Associated with leaks? Associated right when you first mask up and probably aren't asleep? Associated with a time frame when you might be awake but just laying in bed. The machine doesn't know if you hold your breath while turning over or just are awake and have longer pauses in breathing which we will do while awake. The machine just flags them.

If you determine that these hypopneas do indeed come when you are asleep and you can't blame them on a large leak, then consider trying to decrease them with a bump in pressure. Go slow, don't obsess, your numbers are really pretty good for just starting out and you are reporting that you feel good. If you were telling us you still felt like total crap, then I would suggest being a bit more aggressive.

The graphs actually tell us more than the summary reports do.

Ohhh, I see Gary posted some of those links I was looking for but I feel so bad didn't want to look for them again,
thanks Gary.

OK, I finally got my detailed graphs to show up, Here is last nights.......

Image

so If I am reading this right, the red arrows with the boxes are Apnea's and the other dark lines and dots are Hypnoapnea's???

I believe the two leaks in the mask are one when I woke up and scratched my upper lip breaking the seal and the other should be when I rolled over on my left side....

So now if the leask aren't causing the Hypnoapnea's then the thinking would be the pressure is a bit too low and as suggested slowly bump up the starting point from 8 and see if they decrease???

Basically, yes.

The "lines" are "dots" which are close together on the horizontal scale at which you are viewing the graph at. You can change the horizontal scale (all the way down to 10 second divisions) by using the "View" option at the top left hand corner of the graph and eventually they should resolve to separate "dots" (depending on what horizontal scale value you choose).

The number on the top of the red line indicates the duration of an apnea. The duration of hypopneas is not shown,

Cheers,

Bill

My S8 II is set to start at 8.0. Anyone know how to bump it up , I would like to try it at small increments until I see if I can get better results or not... Since my old tank was 10.0 all the time, I can't see where it would hurt to go slowly up nightly and watch the results daily...

This should get you close. If it doesn't work, just ask and someone can elaborate on it.
