Yes!!!

Post by Sleepless on LI » Fri Sep 09, 2005 5:27 am

Finally, after feeling exhausted again for about a week and not sleeping well, I slept last night with only two tiny arousals. I redid all the adjustments on my Swift and it fit like a glove. Instead of Dr. Sue's NB device, I went back to Tegaderm patches (still, thanks to RG). Then, yes, once again, switched my settings from 10 straight to 8-12 on auto. Wonderful night's sleep. My snores were a lot, but I DON'T CARE!!! Lower AHI, which is good, too.

But putting numbers aside, which I am going to do, I feel wonderful this morning, full of energy and back to myself. Just wanted to post some good news for a change !

Have a nice day to you all.

Good news Sleepless on LI...so glad you seem to be back on track and you are so full of energy today. Me, I didn't have such a good night but that's alright...there's always tonight.

Sorry to hear that you didn't have a good night last night, but you have the best attitude. I guess we all just take our turns at having good nights. But I figure as long as they're in our future, that's good enough for me to hold onto. I was just getting worried because I was running a string of bad nights in a row for the first time since starting to get relief on the therapy. So now I know it happens and won't worry next time as much. It's a constant learning process, it seems.

Have a great day and good luck with tonight.

LORI:

GLAD TO HEAR THE GREAT NEWS! I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT THE LONGER YOU GO ON WITH CPAP THERAPY YOU WILL HAVE MANY, MANY MORE GOOD DAYS THAN BAD! AT LEAST THAT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE.

I got mine at Walgreens. They were in the band-aid section.

You guys are the best, seriously. I really feel the sincerity in your messages. Thanks for caring.

This taught me a lesson. As Steve/Ufo13 said, you will have more good days than bad days. But never lose faith that you can find your way back to the good days if you just keep at it. I was starting to really worry there for a minute that I was on a decline that I wouldn't recover from, but thank goodness it turned out to be temporary. All I can say is, it feels good to feel good again...and "PHEW!!!"

Regarding the Tegaderm patches, you have to search your local drug stores for them in the bandage section. Some stores have them, some don't. The prices vary, too, so be careful. They aren't as cheap as medical tape, but they work unbelievably better, IMHO. If you buy the large size, which you get fewer in the box, one is perfect, a bit large if you ask me. But if you buy the regular size, I take a second and cut it down the center and "double hem" the sides for extra security. With the mouth puffs that I was getting at 10 cms., I needed a little extra at the ends so it wouldn't blow a hole through the edge.

Also, another thing I found to help enormously is, before I put the patch on, I turn my lips inward and seal them that way. Prevents mouth leaks entirely for me.

Well, I got to my hotel 350 miles from home and found that I had left my cpap in my front entryway and not in my car.

I had to go two night without cpap. I am wooped. You can really feel a difference when you don't use it. Funny thing I slept well, just did not get quality sleep.
