I have been on CPAP for about 6 months. My AHI was 23.1 with a titrated pressure of 8. Once getting settled into the routine of living with the machine I went from CPAP to APAP on my ResMed machine. I have the ResScan software which showed my median pressure was 5.6.
All this time I had an oral appliance which I never used. I had the dentist make it as a possible alternative to CPAP but there was no way to measure how it worked. That is why I didn't use it. Last week I tried an experiment using the dental device with the machine set to CPAP with a pressure of 4.0 (the lowest it would go). I consistently had an AI of 0.3 and an AHI in the 2.0 range.
Based on those results I bit the bullet and decided to go for a Sleep Study with only the oral appliance. I don't have the results yet (appointment will be on 10/8). All the tech could tell me is that it was better than my initial study but did not stop all apneas.
I was wondering if there is anyone who has made a successful transition from a CPAP machine to a dental device?
Thanks,
Mark

I am not a Hindu or a god, just Mark from New Jersey. But the CPAP mask makes me look like Ganesha.

Using the TAP device.
That's about the only one I know of on this forum who has, but he hasn't posted in over a year, so we haven't heard (lately) how he's doing with it.
