OT: what a summer...
OT: what a summer...
Molly passed away last night at 1AM.
She had been restless all afternoon and evening... seemingly unable to get comfortable anywhere.
We thought she would settle in at bedtime last evening but about 2 hours into that and Molly was still stirring around. She went to mom and let out 3 anxious cries while looking at her... as if to say "something is wrong... help me". I got up when I heard an abnormal hoarse loud cry.
By this time her mouth was wide open gasping for air and she was obviously in distress. I brought up her large carrier and she went right into it with no prompting... looking for a safe place I guess. I then got on the phone to see if I could find some emergency veterinary services but heard a thunk from the carrier... she had fallen over on her side and stopped breathing... that was 1AM this morning. Really didn't sleep after that.
One and a half years ago she had a bout with something... the doc suspected at that time it was heart related and likely HCM. The vet also told us to expect to see her dropped on the floor at all most anytime. But she recovered from that and as time went along we started to think she was going to beat it. Last night it came back in a major way.
Molly was the best pet I've ever had. Most cats are aloof and very independent, but not Molly... she wanted to be with you and always had a gentle sweet disposition. I miss her terribly.

Oh Paul, I'm so sorry! It sounds like Molly had a wonderful life with you, and you were with her till the end. I know that unfortunately doesn't bring Molly back or make the pain go away.
Please take good care,
Margaret

Oh Paul I'm so sorry! I miss all our cats, companions hard to let go though it's been years since we shared our house with these wonderful creatures. Molly, lovely name. A summer of strong memories indeed.

Paul, sorry for the loss of your Molly...............cats' are not really aloof and independent, they simply require humans with advanced relationship skills...........and pick their people carefully, something humans can learn for cats!!!!Paul56 wrote:Molly passed away last night at 1AM. May memories of Molly soothe the pain of loss!!!!!

I'm so sorry!!!!!
On the up side... Wonder if she hung on until Mom was doing better, knowing you couldn't do without Molly during that time? Animals just KNOW, you know.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
Re: OT: what a summer...
Paul, I am so sorry to hear of your pain and loss. Both within a week I had to give in and allow my two 9 year old cats to be relieved from their suffering. The second was just last Friday. Reading your story brought those tears ever hovering near the surface on out. Thinking of you as you grieve your Molly's passing.

Paul - It is so hard when we lose those 4 legged family members! I have been through it a number of times in my life and it never gets easy! We have an aloof one (she does have her moments when she wants to be near us) and one that wants to be near us all the time! We love them both!
I'm certainly thinking of you and your mother as well!

Kathy, I'm so sorry for your losses, too. I lost two of my three rather close together, and I almost lost my third recently after a back injury. It's so hard when we lose our furry family members!kteague wrote:Both within a week I had to give in and allow my two 9 year old cats to be relieved from their suffering. Re: OT: what a summer...
My heart goes out to you. I know it hurts so badly to lose our "kids".
Last week our little Pug "Scully" died in my arms as I was trying to do CPR on her. She just fell over and quit breathing at my feet. Then yesterday we nearly lost her brother. So far he is stable.
I do have a rescue kitty named Molly. Grey tiger who is a pistol. I named her Molly from the Unsinkable Molly Brown because she survived a nasty head injury from a fall out of a tree.
