I was quite relieved to read that I am not the only person having a heck of a time with the FullLife Mask. I started with the small cushion. I woke up with a huge red welt on my nose bridge BUT i have to say my leak rate was awesome. I went up to the medium cushion. I again woke up with the welt but had a heck of a time with leaks.
The head gear, with no easy release, just adds to my claustrophobia .. so i went back to my reliable Liberty.
FullLife Mask - Bridge Beater
Re: FullLife Mask - Bridge Beater
A thought:
When I started out with my first nasal pillows - a total newbie - my nares got red and painful after about 2 or 3 days. I called the RT who said that I had to take a break from creating pressure in that area, since there was no sense in letting a pressure sore develop. I took the break - and have been using nasal pillows masks ever since.
We've often run into people with the same problem in the first days of nasal pillows use - irritation needing a break, and then healing that sets them on their way. Why not assume something similar with the Full Life: a mask that needs breaking in. BB, one of the happiest full life users around, did just that: she gave her painful swollen nose a break -- and look where that got her .
So, based on my pillows experience (and only that) and BB's full life experience would it make sense to say: Patience, if the mask bothers you, do all you can to set it properly, and then let you nose bridge get used to the touch/pressure by taking a break?
Remember how red a nose becomes when wiped again and again when you have a bad cold?

Re: FullLife Mask - Bridge Beater
Ozji, I'm going to have to do just that tonight. The welt on the bridge of my nose became a small pimple farm this afternoon. It's still quite red and tender. I'm going back to my nasal mask tonight. It comes into contact with my nose higher up than the FullLife.
Wearing the FullLife is more comfortable than the nasal mask, that is for sure. My leak rate was pretty bad the last two nights, but I have some ideas to try to knock that down, but not until the soreness goes away. My strategy is to let my nose heal, and then go back on the FullLife. I imagine over time, just as you say, that area that contacts the mask will "toughen up."
Another small complaint about this mask is that the vents are a good bit louder than the ResMed Micro that I have been using. Even my wife agrees since it has been waking her up.
