REMstarPlus Noise
My CPAP machine has recently started making a high pitched steady tone almost like an electric alarm clock. It does not do it all the time, but has begun to do it during the night after operating for several hours. The sound is not very loud, but it wakes both me and my spouse up. The machine is a Respironics REMstarPlus. It is a little over 2 1/2 years old. I've checked the User Manual, but have not found anything describing this noise or anything I can do to stop it. Any suggestions?
Re: REMstarPlus Noise
is the air filter blocked? is there any remaining warranty?
since it may be hard to demonstrate the noise, make a tape recording of CPAP when the noise is present
phone around CPAP supply places and ask if its a known problem, then contact maker

Re: REMstarPlus Noise
Warrenty on the Respirionics units is only 2 years from the date it is shipped from the factory so sounds like you are out of the warrenty time. If you can take it back where you got it and see if they will send it in for repair. Many places will give or rent you a loaner while it is sent in for repair. There have been reports of Respirionics making warrenty repairs after the warrenty runs out but it seems to vary on a case by case basis.

Re: REMstarPlus Noise
I had the same machine and same problem at about the same time. The fan motor needed to be replaced. Had to send it in to be fixed.Sleepquest wrote:My CPAP machine has recently started making a high pitched steady tone almost like an electric alarm clock.
