Hi SG,

I definitely go through different sleep cycles. It seems to be a month at a time. I can get good sleep (from my machine stats) for a month, then all of a sudden they're bad for a month. Then they get good again, etc.
Carbs most definitely affect my sleep, especially if I eat them in the evening. My leak rate and AHI are always high if I eat carbs in the evening.
Our GI tracts are called "the second brain" because they actually secrete alot of neurochemicals. If your GI tract is working at night........then your brain is too. My best sleep is when I don't eat anything after dinner.
And caffeine.......no matter when I drink a little, it causes me to wake up early the next morning........so its definitely a factor in sleep quality too.
I have fibromyalgia, and if I'm having pain and don't take tylenol before I go to sleep, my leak rate and AHI are high. I'm guessing its because of the tossing and turning. I think, for me, my leak rate many times reflects how many times I turn at night. If my leak rate is high, then I can't trust the AHI info.

Its possible that you do have other sleep disorders, but it sounds like you're just still sleep deprived.
Definitely let us know how the study turns out.
Have you tried meditation during the day? Sounds like you're in a very stressful time in your life! Good luck SG!
