What is considered acceptable leak?

Post by magentapolkadots » Mon Sep 14, 2009 5:48 pm

Can someone tell me what an acceptable leak is both in L/min and L/sec? My Quatro once seemed leak-proof. These days it hasn't been as reliable even with a new seal. I'm curious to know at what point leaks become more than just a nuisance and begin to negatively impact therapy.
Thanks,
-K

Each mask has that figure in the manual. There is a chart that gives you the normal leak rate at a given pressure setting.
For my mask and pressure setting, the acceptable leak rate is 36 but the doctor says anything under 40 is acceptable for him.
So ask your doctor too.

I finally got a chance to read your "Leak 101" Velbor. While the entire thread got a bit confusing, your initial explanation was exactly what I needed to know.

Thank you so very much!
