Okie dokie, folks. I've returned after a week in lovely Idaho Falls, ID. My 420e, HH and DreamFit mask made the trip with me and worked very well. The average AHI for the 7 nights was still below 1!! Yee Ha!
I got home and used the DreamFit for another couple of nights, but Sweetie said she noticed it was either leaking or my mouth was opening a few times a night. With the leaks, I'd adjust the mask (in my sleep, no less) and that was that. The mouth leaks were more puffing than actually leaking and only lasted a few seconds. But her comments were enough for me to drag out my old faithful UltraMirage FF mask and wear it for the last 3 nights. My AHI is a bit higher with the FF mask (as several posters have noted in this forum), but still acceptable at about 2.8. One thing, I slept for almost 12 hours Sunday night/Monday morning!! With the DreamFit, after about 7 hours or so, I'm awake.
OK, time for a little confession (confession is good for the soul, right???).....I LOVE TO SLEEP!!! LOL In my younger years (pre-OSA), it was not unusual for me to get anywhere from 10-18 hours per night when possible and Saturdays were my "sleeping" day...ALLLLL day! I would wake refreshed, rested and relaxed. For the last 8 years or so, I was still sleeping a bunch, but the the waking refreshed, rested and relaxed were going, going, gone. I'd wake tired, irritable and tense. Going on APAP has kinda/sorta gotten me back on track with being rested and relaxed. I've been doing the hose thing for almost 8 months now and it's working. So, for those of you just starting, hang in there! For all the wonderful folks who are (and have been) a part of my journey, thanks for the encouragement and the information! You're the best!
